Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Emco UMILL 1000 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Emco UMILL 1000 moves Emco's 5-axis simultaneous machining into a gantry structure. Travels are 900 mm (35.4 in) in X, 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in Y and 700 mm (27.6 in) in Z, and the swivel-rotary table takes 1,000 kg (2,205 lb). That is more than twice the load of the UMILL 750, on a machine that weighs 18,000 kg (39,683 lb).
Mass is the theme. A gantry carries the spindle on both sides, which keeps the structure symmetrical as Y moves, and the weight gives the damping needed for steel and titanium. The table has a clamping area of 800 x 800 mm, described by Emco as Ø 800 mm, with torque motors and direct measuring systems. Its swivelling range is +/-125°, wider than on the smaller UMILL machines.
The motor spindle runs 50-15000 rpm with 38 kW (51.0 hp) and 138 Nm (101.8 lb-ft). That is the strongest spindle among the three compact UMILL models and the only one without a faster alternative in the table. Tools can be 80 mm (3.1 in) in diameter and 350 mm (13.8 in) long, and the magazine holds 30 with 60 or 90 as options.
Rapids are 50 m/min (1,968 ipm) and the axes feed rate is listed as 15 m/min (591 ipm). Linear scales in X, Y and Z are standard. Emco notes that the machine is flexible for automation from the front. Controls are Siemens or Heidenhain. Overall size is 3,450 x 4,750 x 3,630 mm (135.8 x 187.0 x 142.9 in).
