How much does the Ecoca SJ-20MC cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Ecoca SJ-20MC that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Ecoca SJ-20MC is the turn-mill version of Ecoca's 6 in (152 mm) chuck lathe: a 12-station turret with a milling speed of 4,000 rpm, working with a 6,000 rpm main spindle. It is the smallest turret machine in the catalogue with a published milling speed.
Small turned parts are where secondary operations hurt most. A fitting or a pin that needs one cross hole can spend longer being handled at a drill press than it spent in the lathe. Putting driven tools on a machine of this size removes that second handling, and the 12 stations leave room for the driven holders without crowding out the turning tools. The holders themselves are optional, as Ecoca notes for living tool.
The envelope is a little smaller than the two-axis machine's. Maximum turning diameter is 205 mm (8.1 in) and maximum turning length 300 mm (11.8 in), where the SJ-20 offers 225 mm (8.9 in) and 320 mm (12.6 in). Both share the 360 mm (14.2 in) swing over the bed, the 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor and a weight of 3,300 kg (7,275 lb).
Construction follows the SJ pattern: a 45 degree slant bed and heavy-rigidity linear guide ways on X and Z. Ecoca gives no milling motor power and no Y axis for this model. For gang-tool work on still smaller parts there is the SJ-10iM, which has the same 4,000 rpm milling speed and a 100 mm (3.9 in) turning diameter.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 4,000 rpm milling speed and 12 tool stations on a 6 in (152 mm) chuck machine
- 6,000 rpm main spindle with an 11/15 kW (14.8/20.1 hp) motor
- Same 3,300 kg (7,275 lb) weight and 360 mm (14.2 in) swing as the SJ-20
- Linear guide ways on X and Z on a 45 degree slant bed
Limitations
- Turning diameter is 205 mm (8.1 in) and length 300 mm (11.8 in), both below the SJ-20
- Milling speed of 4,000 rpm is lower than the 6,000 rpm of the MT-208MC
- No milling power, torque or Y axis listed
- Living tool holders and sleeves are optional

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Ecoca lists a milling speed of 4,000 rpm and a turret with 12 stations. The power of the milling drive is not published and no Y axis is shown, so the machine is suited to drilling, tapping and light milling on the part centreline and face.
02
Up to 205 mm (8.1 in) in turning diameter and 300 mm (11.8 in) in turning length. Swing over the bed is 360 mm (14.2 in) and swing over the cross slide is 225 mm (8.9 in). The chuck is 6 in (152 mm).
03
The SJ-20MC has a turret with 12 stations, a 6 in (152 mm) chuck and a 205 mm (8.1 in) turning diameter. The SJ-10iM is a gang-tool lathe with 6 tool stations and a 100 mm (3.9 in) turning diameter. Both list 6,000 rpm at the spindle and 4,000 rpm for milling.
04
No. The accessories note states that tool holders and sleeves are optional for living tool. Standard items include the 3-jaw hydraulic chuck, soft jaw, hydraulic tailstock, live center, coolant system and static holders for O.D., facing and boring tools.
