Ecoca MT-208 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Ecoca MT-208 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Ecoca or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Ecoca MT-208 pairs an 8 in (203 mm) chuck with a much stronger spindle motor than the chuck size suggests: 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp), turning at up to 4,800 rpm. It is a 30 degree slant-bed lathe with a 10-position turret, a 380 mm (15.0 in) maximum turning diameter and a choice of three turning lengths, 500 / 750 / 1,000 mm (19.7 / 29.5 / 39.4 in).

Bed length is the first decision. Ecoca prints the three lengths in a single cell, and the weight cell follows the same order: 4,000 / 4,900 / 5,500 kg (8,818 / 10,802 / 12,125 lb). The shortest machine is a chucker with a tailstock in reserve. The longest one turns shafts a metre long between the chuck and the hydraulic tailstock, both of which are standard accessories.

How does it sit against its neighbours? The MT-108 has the same chuck size and the same 380 mm (15.0 in) turning diameter, but 260 mm (10.2 in) of length and a 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) motor. The MT-210 is this machine with a 10 in (254 mm) chuck and 4,200 rpm. So the MT-208 is the pick for work that fits an 8 in chuck and benefits from spindle speed: smaller diameters, bar-sized parts, aluminium and brass.

The table lists HARD RAIL guideways. Ecoca notes that both square and linear guide ways can be provided in the MT-2 series, so say which you want when asking for a quotation. Swing over the bed is 545 mm (21.5 in) and over the cross slide 350 mm (13.8 in). Spindle bore, bar capacity and rapid rates are not in the table.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) spindle motor behind an 8 in (203 mm) chuck
  • 4,800 rpm, the highest spindle speed in the MT-208 / MT-210 table
  • Three turning lengths: 500 / 750 / 1,000 mm (19.7 / 29.5 / 39.4 in)
  • Square or linear guide ways can be provided in the MT-2 series, according to Ecoca
  • Big diameter spindle bearing for rigidity, per Ecoca's description

Limitations

  • 10 tool stations; the MT-208MC has 12
  • No milling spindle: driven tooling is the MT-208MC
  • Spindle bore and bar capacity are not stated, although the machine suits bar-sized work
  • Weight rises from 4,000 kg (8,818 lb) to 5,500 kg (12,125 lb) across the three bed lengths, which affects rigging and foundation
06

Best For

Shaft work up to 1,000 mm (39.4 in) on the longest bed Smaller-diameter parts that use the 4,800 rpm spindle Two-axis turning that needs motor power more than chuck size

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Which turning lengths does the Ecoca MT-208 come in?

Three: 500, 750 and 1,000 mm (19.7, 29.5 and 39.4 in). The net weights listed in the same order are 4,000, 4,900 and 5,500 kg (8,818, 10,802 and 12,125 lb). Maximum turning diameter is 380 mm (15.0 in) on every length.

02 What is the difference between the MT-208 and the MT-210?

The chuck and the spindle speed. The MT-208 has an 8 in (203 mm) chuck and 4,800 rpm. The MT-210 has a 10 in (254 mm) chuck and 4,200 rpm. Swing, turning diameter, turning lengths, the 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) motor and the weights are the same in both columns.

03 Does the MT-208 use box ways or linear guides?

The specification table lists HARD RAIL, which is the box way version. Ecoca's description of the MT-2 series adds that both square and linear guide ways can be provided to meet different machining requirements, so the guideway type is a choice to state in the order.

04 Is a tailstock included with the MT-208?

Yes. The standard accessories list includes a hydraulic tailstock and a live center, along with a 3-jaw hydraulic chuck, soft jaws, hydraulic system, coolant system, auto lubrication system and heat exchanger.
