Ecoca SJ-10iM — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Ecoca SJ-10iM that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Ecoca or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Ecoca SJ-10iM is a gang-tool CNC lathe for small precision parts. There is no turret. Tools stand in a row on the cross slide, 6 tool stations in the table, and the slide simply moves the next one into position. Maximum turning diameter is 100 mm (3.9 in), maximum turning length 330 mm (13.0 in), and the spindle runs to 6,000 rpm on a 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) motor.

Gang tooling is about cycle time. With no index to wait for, the change from one tool to the next takes only as long as the slide needs to travel, and Ecoca's description says the system uses the full rapid traverse speed of the two linear guiders. On parts that take a few seconds per operation, that saving is a large share of the cycle. The limits are the number of tools and the clearance between them, which is why the envelope is small.

The iM version mills as well. The table gives a milling speed of 4,000 rpm, and Ecoca describes a newly designed A2-4 spindle box with a CR30 collet chuck and a C axis using a BZI sensor. The description also refers to rigid, accurate X & Y linear way, which suggests an off-centre axis, though the table has no travel figures. A second column, SJ-10i, is the same machine without the milling speed row.

The bed slants at 45° to save floor space and clear chips, and the machine weighs 3,000 kg (6,614 lb). One thing to clarify with Ecoca is workholding: the description speaks of a collet chuck, while the table carries a chuck size row of 5 in (127 mm).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Gang-tool system with no turret index, using the full rapid traverse of the linear guides
  • 6,000 rpm spindle with a C axis (BZI sensor) and a 4,000 rpm milling speed
  • A2-4 spindle box with CR30 collet chuck, per Ecoca's description
  • 45° slant bed designed to fit a small floor space
  • Compact machine of 3,000 kg (6,614 lb)

Limitations

  • Maximum turning diameter is 100 mm (3.9 in)
  • Only 6 tool stations, which limits how complex a part can be in one setup
  • Axis travels and rapid rates are not published, including the Y travel implied by the description
  • The page mentions a collet chuck and a 5 in (127 mm) chuck size without saying which is supplied

Best For

Small precision parts up to 100 mm (3.9 in) in diameter Short-cycle production where turret index time matters Collet work with light milling and cross drilling Shops with limited floor space

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What kind of machine is the Ecoca SJ-10iM?

A slant-bed CNC lathe with a gang-tool system instead of a turret, a C axis and a milling function. Ecoca lists 6 tool stations, a 6,000 rpm spindle and a 4,000 rpm milling speed. The bed is slanted at 45° and the guideways are linear.

02 What part sizes does the SJ-10iM cover?

Maximum turning diameter is 100 mm (3.9 in) and maximum turning length is 330 mm (13.0 in). Swing over the bed is 360 mm (14.2 in) and swing over the cross slide 160 mm (6.3 in). The large gap between swing and turning diameter is typical of gang tooling, where tools need clearance from one another.

03 What is the difference between the SJ-10i and the SJ-10iM?

In Ecoca's table the two columns are identical except for one row: the SJ-10iM has a milling speed of 4,000 rpm and the SJ-10i column leaves that row empty. Both list 6 tool stations, 6,000 rpm, a 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) motor and 3,000 kg (6,614 lb).

04 What spindle and workholding does the SJ-10iM use?

Ecoca describes a new A2-4 spindle box structure equipped with a CR30 collet chuck and a C axis with BZI sensor. The specification table also has a chuck size row reading 5 in (127 mm). Confirm with Ecoca which workholding is delivered as standard.
