Ecoca MT-412 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Ecoca MT-412 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Ecoca or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Five bed lengths, from 730 mm (28.7 in) to 2,980 mm (117.3 in) of turning length, make the Ecoca MT-412 the first long-bed machine in the MT range. Ecoca sums it up as a 690mm swing with 3-meter turning length and calls it an economic choice for big turning parts. The chuck is 12 in (305 mm), the spindle runs to 3,200 rpm and the motor is listed as 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp).

The full list of turning lengths is 730 / 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 / 2,980 mm (28.7 / 39.4 / 59.1 / 78.7 / 117.3 in). The step from the MT-312 is large. That model ends at 980 mm (38.6 in), while this one starts near there and carries on to roughly three times the length. Maximum turning diameter is 510 mm (20.1 in), with 690 mm (27.2 in) of swing over the bed and 480 mm (18.9 in) over the cross slide.

Long beds bring long, slender workpieces, and those need support. A hydraulic tailstock and live center are on the standard accessories list. The page for this model does not mention a steady rest, so if the shafts are thin for their length, raise the question with Ecoca; the larger MT-415 PLUS page does list one as optional.

One caution on the data. The weight cell in Ecoca's table for this series contains a figure that is plainly a misprint, so the row cannot be relied on. Get the weight and footprint for the chosen bed length in writing. The turret has 12 stations and can be a servo or hydraulic type, and the guideways are HARD RAIL on a 30 degree slant bed.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Turning lengths from 730 mm (28.7 in) up to 2,980 mm (117.3 in) in five steps
  • 510 mm (20.1 in) maximum turning diameter and 690 mm (27.2 in) swing over the bed
  • 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) spindle motor, more than the 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) of the MT-312
  • 12-station turret offered as servo or hydraulic, with a large disc
  • Hydraulic tailstock and live center included as standard

Limitations

  • Ecoca's weight row for this series contains a misprint, so the weight has to be confirmed directly
  • A steady rest is not mentioned on this model's page
  • 3,200 rpm top speed; no torque or gear data published
  • Two-axis only, with milling reserved for the MT-412MC

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How long a part can the Ecoca MT-412 turn?

It depends on the bed. Ecoca lists maximum turning lengths of 730, 1,000, 1,500, 2,000 and 2,980 mm (28.7, 39.4, 59.1, 78.7 and 117.3 in). Maximum turning diameter is 510 mm (20.1 in) on every bed, and swing over the cross slide is 480 mm (18.9 in).

02 What is the difference between the MT-412 and the MT-415?

The MT-412 has a 12 in (305 mm) chuck and 3,200 rpm. The MT-415 has a 15 in (381 mm) chuck and 2,500 rpm. Both share the 690 mm (27.2 in) swing, the 510 mm (20.1 in) turning diameter, the five turning lengths and the 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) motor.

03 How much does the MT-412 weigh?

Ecoca's table does not give a usable figure. The net weight cell for the MT-412 and MT-415 lists five values, one per bed length, but one of them is an obvious misprint, so the row as a whole cannot be trusted. Ask Ecoca for the weight of the specific bed length.

04 Does the MT-412 come with a tailstock and steady rest?

A hydraulic tailstock and a live center are on the standard accessories list. A steady rest is not mentioned on the MT-412 page. For long, slender shafts on the 2,000 mm (78.7 in) or 2,980 mm (117.3 in) beds, ask Ecoca what work support is available.
