Danobat HG-92 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Danobat HG-92 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Danobat or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

Five tonnes between centers is the figure that sets the Danobat HG-92 apart from its smaller sibling. This heavy-duty cylindrical grinder carries 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) in every version, grinds diameters up to Ø840 or Ø1,040 mm (Ø33.1 or Ø41 in), and is built in grinding lengths of 3,000, 4,000 or 5,000 mm (118, 157 or 196 in).

Power and wheel size move up to match. The wheelhead is 30, 45 or 60 kW (40.2, 60.3 or 80.4 hp), and the wheel may be Ø760, Ø915 or Ø1,060 mm in diameter, the largest of these not being available with the B-axis. As on the HG-72, the maximum peripheral speed is given as 60 / 120 m/s (11,811 / 23,622 sfpm).

Work of this weight is usually high in value, and the maker's argument for the HG is about not scrapping it. An in/post-process gauge verifies and certifies each part, and Danobat states that dimensional tolerances are guaranteed from the first part, IT3 up to diameter 80 mm and IT2 from 80 mm onwards. The MDM multi-diameter measurer is listed in ranges of 400, 600 or 800 mm (15.7, 23.6 or 31.5 in), the 800 mm range being one the HG-72 does not list.

Set-up aids include a self-calibrating gauge, a mobile tailstock, quick connection outlets and pneumatic lifting systems for the workhead and tailstocks. The X carriage is described as highly dynamic so that speed stays constant along a profile, which is what prevents reversal marks on non-round and eccentric forms. If the part is longer than 5,000 mm (196 in), the cross-slide WT-92 continues to 8,000 mm (315 in) with the same 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) rating.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 5,000 kg (11,023 lb) between centers on every version of the model
  • Wheelhead power up to 60 kW (80.4 hp) and wheels up to Ø1,060 mm
  • MDM measuring ranges of 400, 600 or 800 mm (15.7, 23.6 or 31.5 in)
  • Ground diameters up to Ø1,040 mm (Ø41 in) over lengths to 5,000 mm (196 in)
  • Self-calibrating gauge, mobile tailstock and quick connection outlets to shorten reference changes

Limitations

  • Shortest version is 3,000 mm (118 in); shorter heavy parts still occupy a long bed
  • The Ø1,060 mm wheel cannot be combined with the B-axis
  • Grinding length ends at 5,000 mm (196 in), where the WT-92 offers up to 8,000 mm (315 in)
  • No footprint, machine weight or foundation data is published for a machine of this mass

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the weight capacity of the HG-92?

5,000 kg (11,023 lb) maximum weight between centers. Unlike the HG-72, whose table lists 700, 1,500 or 2,500 kg (1,543, 3,307 or 5,511 lb), the HG-92 shows one figure for all lengths and swings.

02 Which lengths and swings are available on the HG-92?

Maximum grinding length is 3,000, 4,000 or 5,000 mm (118, 157 or 196 in). Maximum diameter to be ground is Ø840 or Ø1,040 mm (Ø33.1 or Ø41 in). The combination is chosen at order; Danobat's table does not restrict which swing goes with which length.

03 How does the HG-92 measure parts during grinding?

With Danobat's MDM in- and post-process gauge, offered here in measuring ranges of 400, 600 or 800 mm (15.7, 23.6 or 31.5 in). Danobat states that dimensional tolerances are guaranteed from the first part in IT3 up to diameter 80 mm and IT2 from 80 mm onwards. Non-contact measuring and a touch probe are also listed.

04 Can the HG-92 grind internal diameters and non-round shapes?

Danobat says the HG can be configured with modular wheel heads including multiple grinding wheels and ID/OD combinations, and that curvic, non-round or eccentric parts can be ground. An internal grinding wheel dressing system is among the dressing options. Which heads fit a given wheel size has to be confirmed, since the largest wheel excludes the B-axis.
