Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Danobat IRD-700 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
At 700 mm (27.56 in) of swing and 500 kg (1,102 lb) on the workhead, the Danobat IRD-700 is the largest radius grinder in the Overbeck IRD series. It is the only IRD model with equal travels in both axes, 700 mm (27.56 in) in X and 700 mm (27.56 in) in Z, and the only one whose external grinding length matches its internal one at 400 mm (15.75 in).
That symmetry says something about the intended work. Bores up to 500 mm (19.69 in) in diameter are ground 400 mm (15.75 in) deep, and the same length is available on the outside, so a large sleeve or a spherical bearing housing can be finished inside and out without leaving the chuck. The workpiece with its clamping may be 700 mm (27.56 in) long. Its weight limit is listed as 500 kg (1,102 lb) / 500 Nm.
The B0 axis swivels the workhead +91° / -15°, the same range as the smaller IRD machines but here under a far heavier part. A direct driven turret with a 300° swivelling range holds up to 5 spindles and one measuring probe.
Expect a large installation. Danobat gives 235 x 400 x 280 cm (92.52 x 157.48 x 110.24 in) as height x width x depth, and the IRD-700 is the tallest and deepest machine in the Overbeck table. The ILD-600 has the same 400 cm width and the same weight rating, but it trades swing and swivel for a 1,300 mm (51.18 in) part length. Loading a 500 kg (1,102 lb) part by hand is not realistic, and Danobat names robots, gantries and hybrid systems as the automation routes for the IRD.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 700 mm (27.56 in) swing with a 500 kg (1,102 lb) / 500 Nm workpiece rating
- Internal grinding to 500 mm (19.69 in) in diameter and 400 mm (15.75 in) in length
- External grinding length of 400 mm (15.75 in), far beyond the 150 mm (5.91 in) of the IRD-500
- 700 mm (27.56 in) of travel in both X and Z
- B0 swivel of +91° / -15° and up to 5 spindles with a measuring probe
Limitations
- Largest footprint in the range: 400 cm wide and 280 cm deep, 235 cm high
- Workpiece length is limited to 700 mm (27.56 in); longer parts need the 1,300 mm (51.18 in) of the ILD-600
- Parts near the 500 kg (1,102 lb) limit need crane or automated loading, which is not part of the listed machine
- No spindle power, wheel speed or machine weight is given for planning the foundation and supply

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Swing diameter is 700 mm (27.56 in) and the workpiece with clamping can be 700 mm (27.56 in) long. Danobat's series text says the three IRD models cover parts with maximum grinding lengths of up to 400 mm and swing diameters up to 700 mm; both of those upper limits are this model's.
02
500 kg (1,102 lb) / 500 Nm including the clamping system. That is the same rating as the ILD-600 and well above the 80 kg (176 lb) / 100 Nm of the IRD-300. Since the figure includes the chuck or fixture, weigh the workholding before deciding how much is left for the part.
03
It depends on the part's shape. The IRD-700 suits wide parts that need radius work: 700 mm (27.56 in) swing, a +91° / -15° B0 swivel and up to 5 spindles. The ILD-600 suits long parts, taking 1,300 mm (51.18 in) of length with a B0 range of +20° / -10° and up to 4 spindles. Each is rated for 500 kg (1,102 lb) / 500 Nm.
04
X and Z each travel 700 mm (27.56 in). The machine measures 235 x 400 x 280 cm (92.52 x 157.48 x 110.24 in), given as height x width x depth. Axes are driven by linear motors on a natural granite base, and the workhead is direct driven.
