Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Danobat IRD-300 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Radius grinding in a small footprint is the brief of the Danobat IRD-300, the entry model of the Overbeck IRD series. Its workhead sits on a B0 axis that swivels +91° / -15°, so a spherical seat, a contoured bore or a steep taper can be generated by swinging the part past the wheel. Danobat calls the IRD the only grinding machine that combines radius grinding with fully integrated non-round capabilities.
The envelope is the smallest of the three IRD models. Swing is 215 mm (8.46 in), the workpiece with clamping can be 250 mm (9.84 in) long, and the weight limit is 80 kg (176 lb), paired in the table with 100 Nm. Bores are ground up to 200 mm (7.87 in) in diameter. Internal and external grinding lengths are both 100 mm (3.94 in). X travels 400 mm (15.75 in) and Z 300 mm (11.81 in).
Those numbers are the same as the ID-300 in every row the two share. What separates them is the swivelling workhead on this machine and the turret: Danobat states the IRD-300 offers up to 3 spindles and a measuring probe, and that it is 40% smaller than other alternatives. The outer dimensions are 215 x 210 x 220 cm (84.65 x 82.68 x 86.61 in), height x width x depth.
Automation was part of the design. Per the series page, even the most compact IRD model comes with a dedicated space for a robot. The rest is the common Overbeck build of granite base, linear motors, direct-drive workhead and motor spindles, programmed through DoGrind+ with its assistants for thread, non-round, jig and taper work.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- B0 axis swivels the workhead +91° / -15° for radius, taper and contour grinding in one set-up
- Up to 3 spindles and a measuring probe in a machine 210 cm wide and 220 cm deep
- Dedicated space for a robot in the most compact IRD model, according to Danobat
- Radius grinding combined with integrated non-round capability in one software
- 400 mm (15.75 in) of X travel on a machine with a 215 mm (8.46 in) swing
Limitations
- Grinding length is 100 mm (3.94 in) inside and outside, the shortest in the IRD series
- Carries up to 3 spindles where the IRD-500 and IRD-700 carry up to 5
- 80 kg (176 lb) weight limit including clamping, listed with 100 Nm
- Swing of 215 mm (8.46 in) rules out the larger rings the IRD-500 accepts

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The B0 axis. Both share a 215 mm (8.46 in) swing, 200 mm (7.87 in) maximum bore, 400 mm (15.75 in) of X travel and the same outer dimensions. The IRD-300 adds a workhead that swivels +91° / -15° for radius grinding, and Danobat quotes it with up to 3 spindles and a measuring probe; the ID-300 is listed with up to 4 spindles.
02
+91° / -15° on all three IRD models. Swinging past the perpendicular lets the wheel follow a full quarter radius and reach a face square to the bore. The ILD-600, by comparison, has a B0 range of +20° / -10° intended for tapers and small radii.
03
Maximum internal grinding diameter 200 mm (7.87 in), internal grinding length 100 mm (3.94 in), external grinding length 100 mm (3.94 in), swing 215 mm (8.46 in), workpiece length including clamping 250 mm (9.84 in). The workpiece weight limit including clamping is 80 kg (176 lb), stated with 100 Nm.
04
Not as a stated standard. Danobat says every IRD model is engineered for easy integration and that the most compact model comes with a dedicated space for a robot, adding that the compact model may come with an integrated robot. Gantries and hybrid systems are named as alternatives, so loading is chosen per project.
