Danobat ID-500 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Danobat ID-500 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Danobat or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

With a 560 mm (22.05 in) swing and room for a 500 mm (19.69 in) outside diameter, the Danobat ID-500 is the large-ring member of the Overbeck ID/IED series. Its internal capacity is a 300 mm (11.81 in) bore ground to a depth of 200 mm (7.87 in). External grinding covers 150 mm (5.91 in) of length, so this is a machine for rings, housings and flanged parts whose diameter is larger than their length.

How heavy can the part be? The table gives a range rather than one number: 80 kg (176 lb) / 100 Nm to 180 kg (397 lb) / 300 Nm including the clamping system. A range of that kind points to more than one workhead rating, so the weight of chuck plus part should be settled with Danobat before the machine is specified. The part and its clamping may be 500 mm (19.69 in) long.

Axis travels are 450 mm (17.72 in) in X and 485 mm (19.09 in) in Z, against 400 mm (15.75 in) and 300 mm (11.81 in) on the ID-300. The extra Z is what allows the deeper bore. Wheels are carried on a direct driven spindle turret that swivels through 300° and takes up to 4 spindles and one measuring probe, which lets a bore, a face and an outside diameter be finished without re-chucking.

Danobat pitches the series at continuous production, citing low-maintenance components, process monitoring sensors and remote diagnostics. The frame is a natural granite base with linear motor axes and a direct-drive workhead. Floor dimensions are modest for the swing: 215 x 275 x 225 cm (84.65 x 108.27 x 88.58 in), height x width x depth.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 560 mm (22.05 in) swing with external grinding to 500 mm (19.69 in) in diameter, the largest in the ID/IED series
  • Internal grinding to 300 mm (11.81 in) in diameter and 200 mm (7.87 in) in length
  • Workpiece weight rating extends to 180 kg (397 lb) / 300 Nm including clamping
  • 485 mm (19.09 in) of Z travel, against 300 mm (11.81 in) on the ID-300
  • Up to 4 spindles and one measuring probe on a direct driven turret with a 300° swivelling range

Limitations

  • External grinding length is 150 mm (5.91 in), short for shafts or long sleeves
  • The weight row is a range, 80 kg (176 lb) / 100 Nm to 180 kg (397 lb) / 300 Nm, so the usable figure depends on the configuration ordered
  • A single turret grinds bore and outside diameter one after the other; simultaneous ID and OD grinding is what the IED-500 adds
  • No spindle power, wheel size or wheel speed appears in the published table

Best For

Bearing rings and gear blanks up to 500 mm (19.69 in) in outside diameter Bores up to 300 mm (11.81 in) that need 200 mm (7.87 in) of grinding depth Flanged housings ground on bore, face and outside diameter in one clamping Large-series work fed by a gantry, a robot or a hybrid loader

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What are the grinding capacities of the ID-500?

Internal grinding: up to 300 mm (11.81 in) in diameter and 200 mm (7.87 in) in length. External grinding: up to 500 mm (19.69 in) in diameter and 150 mm (5.91 in) in length. The maximum swing is 560 mm (22.05 in), and the workpiece with its clamping system can be 500 mm (19.69 in) long.

02 What workpiece weight can the ID-500 hold?

Danobat's table states 80 kg (176 lb) / 100 Nm to 180 kg (397 lb) / 300 Nm, clamping system included. The lower pair matches the single figure given for the ID-300. Because the row is printed as a range, ask which workhead the higher figure belongs to before planning a heavy chuck.

03 Is the ID-500 or the IED-500 the better choice for production?

They trade capacity for cycle time. The ID-500 has one turret and the larger envelope: a 560 mm (22.05 in) swing and a 200 mm (7.87 in) internal grinding length. The IED-500 has a dual-turret design for simultaneous ID and OD grinding, which Danobat says cuts cycle times by up to 50%, but its swing is 300 mm (11.81 in).

04 Which dressing and measuring options are listed?

For the ID/IED series Danobat lists a fixed dresser, a dressing spindle, a radius dresser, a dressing revolver, a dresser on the workhead and a roller dresser. Measuring choices are a touch probe, in-process measuring, post-process measuring and a tool measuring device. All of them appear under customisation, so they are selections rather than a fixed standard build.
