Overview

Two figures make the Campro CPV-1050B the odd one out among the CPV-B box-way vertical machining centers: 780 mm (30.7 in) of Z travel and a 10,000 rpm spindle. X travel is 1,050 mm (41.3 in) and Y is 530 mm (20.8 in), over a 1,050 × 530 mm (41.3 in x 20.8 in) table rated for 1,000 kg (2,204 lb).

The tall Z is the feature to plan around. Spindle nose to table distance runs 100~880 mm (3.9 in ~ 34.6 in), which is more daylight than the CPV-1100B-BT40 offers at 120~720 mm (4.7 in ~ 28.3 in). Campro lists a tilting rotary table as an option for this model, and the headroom is what makes that practical: a trunnion, a fixture and a 250 mm (9.8 in) tool can stack up under the spindle.

It is also the quickest machine in the line. Rapids are 30 m/min on X, Y and Z, where the CPV-850B and CPV-1100B-BT40 are listed at 20 m/min, and the spindle reaches 10,000 rpm against the 8,000 rpm of the CPV-850B, on the same 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) motor. Chip to chip time is 6 sec with the 24-tool arm type changer.

Construction follows the rest of the series as Campro describes it: box ways on 3 axes, Turcite-B bonded and scraped slideways, pretensioned class C3 ball screws and a belt type spindle with an oil cooler as standard. Note that the table is exactly as long as the X travel and as deep as the Y travel. The machine weighs 6,700 kg (14,770 lb) and needs 20 kVA.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 780 mm (30.7 in) of Z travel with 100~880 mm (3.9 in ~ 34.6 in) from spindle nose to table
  • 10,000 rpm spindle, the fastest standard speed among the CPV-B models, with 11 / 15 kW (20 HP)
  • 30 m/min rapids on all three axes, quick for a box-way machine
  • Tilting rotary table listed by Campro as an option
  • Table load of 1,000 kg (2,204 lb) on a 6,700 kg (14,770 lb) machine

Limitations

  • Y travel is 530 mm (20.8 in), no more than the smaller CPV-850B
  • The table is 1,050 × 530 mm (41.3 in x 20.8 in), the same as the X and Y travels, so there is no table margin beyond the stroke
  • Tool weight is capped at 7 kg (15 lb) with a 24-tool magazine and no listed magazine option
  • Floor plan of 3,650 × 2,690 mm (143 in x 105 in) is larger than the CPV-1100B-BT40 needs
06

Best For

Tall workpieces and fixtures that need up to 880 mm (34.6 in) under the spindle 4th and 5th axis work with the optional tilting rotary table Finishing passes that benefit from 10,000 rpm on box ways Die and mold components up to 1,000 kg (2,204 lb)

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Why does the CPV-1050B have more Z travel than its siblings?

Its Z axis travel is 780 mm (30.7 in) and the spindle nose to table distance is 100~880 mm (3.9 in ~ 34.6 in). The CPV-1100B-BT40 has 600 mm (23.6 in) of Z. Campro lists an optional tilting rotary table for the CPV-1050B, and the extra height leaves room for one under the spindle.

02 What spindle speed and power does the CPV-1050B have?

The spindle speed is 10,000 rpm with an 11 / 15 kW (20 HP) spindle motor on a 7/24 taper No.40. Campro describes the standard spindle as belt type with class P4 angular contact ball bearings and fits a spindle oil cooler as standard. No torque figure is published.

03 How fast is the CPV-1050B?

Rapid traverse is 30 / 30 / 30 m/min (1,181.1 / 1,181.1 / 1,181.1 in/min) for X / Y / Z and the cutting feedrate is 10,000 mm/min (393.7 in/min). Tool change takes 2.5 sec tool to tool and 6 sec chip to chip.

04 How much room does the CPV-1050B take up?

The floor plan is 3,650 × 2,690 mm (143 in x 105 in) and the maximum machine height is 2,900 mm (114 in). It weighs 6,700 kg (14,770 lb). Power supply is 20 kVA and the air source is 6~8 kg/cm² (85 ~ 113 PSI).
