How much does the Breton Matrix E1 1000 K20 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Breton Matrix E1 1000 K20 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
One metre of Z is what the Breton Matrix E1 1000 K20 offers over the entry version of the series. This monobloc 5-axis gantry machining centre travels 2,000 mm (78.7 in) in X, 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in Z, and carries a workbench listed at 2,500 mm (98.4 in) by 1,000 mm (39.4 in).
The middle height is the general-purpose choice. It leaves room for a mould base with some depth and still lets a tilted head clear the top of the part, without the taller column of the Breton Matrix E1 1200 K20, which reaches 1,200 mm (47.2 in).
Thermal behaviour is where Breton puts its emphasis on this model. The structure is described as thermo-symmetrical and is combined with the maker's Thermal Shield, which together are said to keep thermal expansion under control and improve precision and repeatability over time. A finishing job on a large mould can run across a full shift, so growth of the structure during the cut shows up directly on the surface. The table does not put a number on accuracy, though; ask for the acceptance values.
Chip handling is built in. Augers at the sides of the work table feed a chip conveyor, and the work area is clad in modular stainless steel panels.
Rapid feed rates are 50 m/min (1,969 ipm) in X and Y and 40 m/min (1,575 ipm) in Z, the C axis covers -305° to 305° at 30 rpm, and the tool taper is HSK-A63. Spindle ratings are not part of the table.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z travel with a 2,500 mm (98.4 in) by 1,000 mm (39.4 in) workbench
- Thermo-symmetrical structure with Breton's Thermal Shield for control of thermal expansion
- Chip augers and a chip conveyor at the sides of the work table
- Work area clad with modular stainless steel panels
- Optionally available with turning tables integrated into the base
Limitations
- No accuracy or repeatability value is published in the table
- Spindle power, torque and speed are not listed for the version
- X travel is 2,000 mm (78.7 in) on every E1; longer parts need a different Breton series
- The A axis row is printed without a value

Frequently Asked Questions
01
1,000 mm (39.4 in). X is 2,000 mm (78.7 in) and Y is 2,500 mm (98.4 in). Among the E1 versions, the Breton Matrix E1 800 K20 has 800 mm (31.5 in) of Z and the Breton Matrix E1 1200 K20 has 1,200 mm (47.2 in).
02
The version table lists workbench dimensions of 2,500 mm (98.4 in) in length and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in width. The page gives no table load, so heavy die blocks should be checked with the maker.
03
The page gives no accuracy figure. It states that control of thermal expansion is guaranteed by the thermo-symmetrical structure and by Thermal Shield, and that direct motors on all linear axes eliminate backlash and vibration caused by drive belts.
04
The numerical control section of the page lists Siemens Sinumerik One and Heidenhain 640. The tool taper is HSK-A63, and tool magazines of various types can be fitted, all compatible with the tool changer built into the column.
