Breton Ultrix E3 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Breton Ultrix E3 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Breton or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Breton Ultrix E3 moves the Ultrix idea, 5-axis milling and turning on a trunnion table under a gantry, up to parts weighing 2,500 kg (5,511 lb). Linear travels are 1,700 mm (66.9 in) in X, 1,600 mm (63.0 in) in Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) in Z.

Symmetry is the practical gain over the smaller model. The A axis tilts from -120° to 120°, so the table can present either side of a part to the vertical spindle. Breton points out a side effect that operators value: with the table tilted, chips fall away and the part can be cleaned.

Loading is from above. The top bellows open completely for an overhead crane, which at this payload is the only sensible way to load. The work area is clad in stainless steel and all axes are pressurised against contamination.

For turning, the E3 has a 450 mm (17.7 in) turning bar stroke, double that of the Breton Ultrix E2 at 225 mm (8.9 in), which lets the bar reach down inside a deep casing. Table speed is 500 rpm in S6, and the maximum torque row in the table block reads 2,700 Nm (1,991.5 lb-ft). The interface is Capto C8.

Two entries in the E3 column should be confirmed with Breton. The rotary table diameter is printed as 1,000 mm (39.4 in), smaller than on the E2, and the C axis travel is not printed cleanly. Rapids are 50 m/min (1,969 ipm) in all three linear axes; A turns at 30 rpm and C at 60 rpm, the slowest rotary speeds of the three versions.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Rotary table payload of 2,500 kg (5,511 lb)
  • A axis tilting from -120° to 120°, to both sides
  • 450 mm (17.7 in) turning bar stroke for deep internal turning
  • Top bellows open completely for loading with overhead cranes
  • Rapids of 50 m/min (1,969 ipm) in X, Y and Z alike

Limitations

  • Rotary axes are the slowest in the range: 30 rpm in A and 60 rpm in C, against 50 rpm and 100 rpm on the Breton Ultrix E3 HD
  • Rotary table diameter is printed as 1,000 mm (39.4 in), which needs confirming against the travels
  • No milling spindle power or speed in the version table
  • Capto C8 only in the taper row; the Breton Ultrix E3 HD lists HSK-T100

Best For

Compressor cases and turbine parts up to 2,500 kg (5,511 lb) Deep casings that need the 450 mm (17.7 in) turning bar stroke Titanium and superalloy aero engine components Heavy parts loaded by overhead crane

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How heavy a part can the Breton Ultrix E3 carry?

The rotary table payload is 2,500 kg (5,511 lb). That is the same as the Breton Ultrix E3 HD and well above the 1,500 kg (3,307 lb) of the Breton Ultrix E2.

02 What are the travels and axis ranges of the Ultrix E3?

X is 1,700 mm (66.9 in), Y is 1,600 mm (63.0 in) and Z is 1,000 mm (39.4 in). The A axis tilts from -120° to 120°. The table does not print the C axis travel cleanly for this version, so take it from the maker's documents.

03 How does the Ultrix E3 differ from the Ultrix E3 HD?

Travels and payload are the same. The Breton Ultrix E3 HD lists a maximum torque in S6 of 4,200 Nm (3,097.9 lb-ft) against 2,700 Nm (1,991.5 lb-ft) here, faster rotary axes, an HSK-T100 taper and a rotary table speed of 450 rpm.

04 Which controls does Breton offer on the Ultrix E3?

The numerical control section lists Siemens Sinumerik One and Heidenhain 640. Tool stores of several types can be fitted, all compatible with the compact tool changer built into the machine column.
