Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Baykal BLM that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Baykal BLM is a long-bed fiber laser for plate that does not fit an enclosed machine. Its working area is 2,000 mm (78.7 in), 2,500 mm (98.4 in) or 3,000 mm (118.1 in) wide and can be built up to 24,000 mm (944.9 in) long, with 6,000 mm (236.2 in) as the shortest length. Baykal describes it as a modular design with extra large capacity, and the data sheet mentions a BLM 30180 of 3000mm X 18000mm as an example.
Speed is not the point of this machine. Rapid traverse is 45 m/min, vector speed 65 m/min and acceleration 1.2G (12 m/s²), all well below the enclosed machines in the range. What it keeps is accuracy: ± 0.02 mm for both absolute positioning and repeatability, on a Wittenstein rack and pinion with Beckhoff motors and drives.
Laser power is 6 kW to 15 kW through a Precitec ProCutter 2.0 head. The capacity table is the same one Baykal prints for its other high-power machines: 25 mm (0.98 in) mild steel at 6 kW, 35 mm (1.38 in) at 10 kW and 45 mm (1.77 in) at 15 kW, with stainless and aluminum both at 40 mm (1.57 in) at the top power.
The bed is rated by area instead of per table: 400 kg/m². No transfer table appears in the data sheet, which fits a machine on which plates are laid on a long fixed bed and the gantry moves from one to the next. Bevel cutting is optional. Nozzle cleaning and calibration are automatic.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Bed length up to 24,000 mm (944.9 in) in widths of 2,000 mm (78.7 in), 2,500 mm (98.4 in) or 3,000 mm (118.1 in)
- ± 0.02 mm absolute positioning accuracy and repeatability over a long bed
- 6 kW to 15 kW with 45 mm (1.77 in) mild steel capacity at 15 kW
- Bed load rated at 400 kg/m²
- Bevel cutting is available as an option
Limitations
- 45 m/min rapid traverse and 1.2G (12 m/s²) are far below the 115 m/min and 2.2G of the BLS PRO
- No transfer table or pallet changer is listed
- Minimum bed length is 6,000 mm (236.2 in), so it needs a long bay
- The data sheet gives no programmable feed rate for this model

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The working area width is 2,000 mm (78.7 in), 2,500 mm (98.4 in) or 3,000 mm (118.1 in). Length goes up to 24,000 mm (944.9 in), with a minimum of 6,000 mm (236.2 in). The data sheet's own example is a BLM 30180, 3000mm X 18000mm.
02
Slower. The BLM is listed at 45 m/min rapid traverse, 65 m/min vector speed and 1.2G (12 m/s²). The BLS PRO in its rack and pinion version is listed at 115 m/min, 165 m/min and 2.2G (22 m/s²). Both give ±0.02 mm positioning accuracy in those versions.
03
With 6 kW it is listed for 25 mm (0.98 in) mild steel, 16 mm (0.63 in) stainless and 12 mm (0.47 in) aluminum. With 15 kW the figures are 45 mm (1.77 in) mild steel and 40 mm (1.57 in) stainless and aluminum, 15 mm (0.59 in) copper and 20 mm (0.79 in) brass.
04
Baykal gives the maximum load capacity as 400 kg/m², a figure per unit of bed area and not a per-table weight. The data sheet lists no transfer table for this model, so plan crane access along the length of the bed.
