Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LP-2516 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA LP-2516 is the shortest machine in the LP bridge type range: 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of X travel, 1,600 mm (63.0 in) of Y and 760 mm (29.9 in) of Z under a fixed cross beam, with 1,700 mm (66.9 in) between the columns. Its spindle is a 6,000 rpm BT50 unit on a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor, and DIN69871-A is the optional taper.
One detail deserves a second look before a fixture is designed. The table measures 2,310 x 1,500 mm (90.9 x 59.1 in), which is shorter than the X stroke, so the spindle can run past both ends of it. That helps when end faces need a cutter to clear them. The clamping length, though, is the 2,310 mm and not the 2,500 mm. Load capacity is 8,000 kg (17,637 lb).
AWEA's SP-2016 carries the same table and the same load rating on 2,100 mm (82.7 in) of X travel and a weight of 19,000 kg (41,887 lb). The LP-2516 weighs 26,000 kg (57,319 lb). What the extra iron is for is set out on the maker's LP pages: a one-piece base with 4 guide ways under the table, an X-axis ball screw placed on the centre line of the axis, roller type linear guide ways on X and Y, and a hardened and ground box way on Z.
Being the shortest LP, it is also the quickest and the tightest in the table. X and Y rapid at 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm) and Z at 15,000 mm/min (591 ipm). The VDI positioning figure is P ≤ 0.020 mm over full travel with repeatability of Ps ≤ 0.015 mm, and both widen on every longer model of the group. The magazine holds 32 tools, or 40 as an option.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- P ≤ 0.020 mm positioning and Ps ≤ 0.015 mm repeatability under VDI, the tightest figures AWEA lists in the LP-16 group
- 20,000 mm/min (787 ipm) rapids on both X and Y
- X travel of 2,500 mm (98.4 in) exceeds the 2,310 mm table length, so the spindle clears both table ends
- 26,000 kg (57,319 lb) of machine behind an 8,000 kg (17,637 lb) table, on a one-piece base with 4 guide ways
- BT50 tools up to 400 mm (15.7 in) long and 20 kg (44 lb)
Limitations
- The table is 2,310 mm long, less than the 2,500 mm stroke, so clamping length is shorter than the travel suggests
- Only 6,000 rpm is listed for this model; the wider LP-3021 lists built-in and direct drive spindles as options
- The magazine stops at 40 tools as an option, where the LP-3021 offers 60, 90 or 120
- Y and Z are fixed at 1,600 mm and 760 mm, with no optional strokes in the table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Both use a 2,310 x 1,500 mm (90.9 x 59.1 in) table rated for 8,000 kg (17,637 lb), with 1,600 mm of Y and 760 mm of Z. The SP-2016 has 2,100 mm (82.7 in) of X travel, weighs 19,000 kg (41,887 lb) and lists 200 ~ 960 mm (7.9 ~ 37.8 in) from spindle nose to table. The LP-2516 has 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of X, weighs 26,000 kg (57,319 lb) and lists 240 ~ 1,000 mm (9.4 ~ 39.4 in).
02
AWEA's table gives 2,500 mm of X travel over a 2,310 mm long table and does not explain the choice. In practice the spindle centre can pass both ends of the table, which suits end-face work and parts that overhang a little. Plan fixtures to the table length and the 8,000 kg load, not to the stroke.
03
The table lists 6,000 rpm, a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor and a BT50 (ISO50) taper with DIN69871-A optional. For the LP series AWEA describes its 6,000 rpm high torque spindle as a 26 kW unit with a maximum of 642 N-m at 387 rpm behind a 2-speed gear box, and a floating hydraulic tool release that keeps pressure off the spindle bearing when a tool is released.
04
Each of the 32 pockets (40 optional) takes a tool up to Ø127 mm (Ø5.0 in), or Ø215 mm (Ø8.5 in) with the adjacent pockets empty. Maximum tool length is 400 mm (15.7 in) and maximum tool weight is 20 kg (44 lb).
05
The table lists 5 ~ 8 (5) kg/cm² for air pressure. The hydraulic unit has a 120 liter tank with a 7.5 HP pump, the lubrication tank holds 6 liter and the coolant tank 420 liter with a 1.5 HP pump. No kVA figure is stated, so ask for the connected load when the machine is quoted.
