Overview

The Vision Wide XMS-52 is the largest XMS: 5,200 mm (204.7 in) of Y travel and a maximum workpiece width of 5,600 mm (220.5 in), with X travel built to order within 8,200(+1m)~60,200 mm.

Control choice is broadest on this series. A Fanuc 0iMF PLUS controller is standard, and three alternatives are named: Fanuc 31iB, HEIDENHAIN TNC640 and SIEMENS 840D. Large floor-type machines are often bought to work beside existing ones, and matching the control to the shop's programmers and post-processors is one of the first decisions.

The second is the spindle. The standard 4,000rpm 2-step gear type suits heavy milling of steel structures. A 6,000 rpm gear spindle widens the range. The 8,000rpm and 12,000rpm built-in spindles turn the machine toward aluminum and finishing; with a cutting feed of 1-10,000 mm/min and rapids of 20/20/12 m/min, it has the axis speed to use them on large aerospace or rail vehicle structures. Power is listed as 22/26 kW (29.5/34.9 hp).

Z travel is 2,000 mm (78.7 in) in a 580x580 mm (22.8x22.8 in) ram, with a Z axis hydrostatic guideway as an option. Chips go to screw type conveyors on the table sides and a caterpillar type conveyor. Table load is 5,000 kg/m2.
