How is a table this long kept supported? AWEA builds the base in one piece with 4 guide ways and enlarges it in proportion to the travel, so the table does not overhang at the ends of the stroke. The X-axis ball screw sits in the centre of the axis, which the maker says avoids yawing and uneven guide way wear, and a vibration absorber steadies the long screw. In the head, the spindle, its motor, the Z ball screw and the hydraulic counter weight cylinders are placed symmetrically.
