Röders RXP500DSC

Two things separate the Röders RXP500DSC from the RXP500DS: a smaller table and half the load. The table is 200 mm (7.9 in) in diameter and the workpiece limit is 30 kg (66 lb). In return, Röders describes the rotary-swivel unit as having a larger offset and less interfering edges.

Interfering edges are what stop a short tool from reaching the lower part of a workpiece when the table is swivelled. A unit with fewer of them lets the spindle nose come closer to the part at steep angles, so shorter and stiffer tools can be used on deep or undercut features. That is the case for this version. If the parts are simple five-sided jobs, the 60 kg table of the RXP500DS is the more useful one.

The remaining data are shared. Machining range is 450 mm x 455 mm x 240 mm (17.7 x 17.9 x 9.4 in), swivelling range +/-115 degrees, rotation almost unlimited. The standard spindle gives 42,000 rpm and 14 kW (18.8 hp) through HSK E40, with tools up to 16 mm in diameter. Feeds run from 0 to 42,000 mm/min.

21 tools are held in the linear changer and a chain changer with 35 or more places can be ordered. The machine weighs about 6.5 t and needs W 2,710 mm x L 2,300 mm x H 2,350 mm. Röders gives no distance between spindle nose and table for this version, so the stroke position drawing is the document to ask for before fixtures are designed.
