Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA MCP-8050 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AWEA MCP-8050 is the shortest of the seven moving column bridge machines built on the 5,400 mm (212.6 in) Y frame, with 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of X travel and 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of Z. Its table measures 8,000 x 3,800 mm (315.0 x 149.6 in) and does not move. The columns travel along it instead, a layout AWEA says takes 40 % less space than a fixed column machine.
At this length a buyer has other AWEA machines to weigh. The LG-8050 covers the same 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of X with 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of Y, but its Z stops at 1,000 mm (39.4 in). The MVP-8040 reaches 4,000 mm (157.5 in) in Y and brings a W axis of 1,250 mm (49.2 in). What sets the MCP-8050 apart from both is multi-face work in the base machine: an automatic head changer and a two positions ATC system are standard, so the sides of a part can be cut in the setup that did the top.
The spindle is BBT50 with a 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor. AWEA prints the vertical speed row without a unit, as "4,000 Gear Spindle (Std.)", followed by 5,000 / 6,000 gear spindles and 8,000 / 12,000 built-in spindles as options.
Rapids are 10 / 7.5 / 10 m/min (394 / 295 / 394 ipm) in X, Y and Z, and cutting feed is 1 ~ 10 m/min (39 ~ 394 ipm). Those are positioning speeds for a heavy bridge, not figures for chasing cycle time on small parts. The specification sheet gives no table load, no machine weight and no positioning accuracy, so all of them have to come from AWEA in writing before a foundation is designed.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Automatic head changer and two positions ATC system are standard, so 5-face work needs no added option
- 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of Z travel, against 1,000 mm (39.4 in) on the LG-8050 with the same X stroke
- 5,400 mm (212.6 in) of Y over a table 3,800 mm wide leaves the head room to work down the sides of a part
- Shortest bed of the 5,400 mm group, for shops that need the width but not the length
- BBT50 spindle with gear and built-in spindle options listed
Limitations
- Y rapid is 7.5 m/min (295 ipm), slower than the 10 m/min of X and Z
- No table load, machine weight or accuracy figure in the published table
- X travel ends at 8,000 mm (315.0 in); the MCP-10050 is the next size up at 10,000 mm (393.7 in)
- 60T magazine and the 1,600 mm Z stroke are options, not part of the base machine

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Both have 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of X travel. The MCP-8050 has 5,400 mm (212.6 in) of Y and 1,400 mm (55.1 in) of Z; the LG-8050 has 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z. The LG-8050 is listed with an X rapid of 20 m/min (787 ipm), the MCP-8050 with 10 m/min (394 ipm). AWEA lists an automatic head changer as standard on the MCP.
02
Yes. AWEA states that an automatic head changer and a two positions ATC system are standardly equipped on the MCP series for multi-face machining. The attachment heads themselves are described as a new generation of in-house made heads; which heads come with a given machine should be confirmed in the quotation.

A BBT50 spindle driven by a 22 / 26 kW (29.5 / 34.9 hp) motor. The speed row in AWEA's table carries no unit: it reads 4,000 for the standard gear spindle, 5,000 / 6,000 for optional gear spindles and 8,000 / 12,000 for optional built-in spindles.
