Overview

The AWEA HVM-4025 opens the middle frame of the HVM five-face bridge range. Its columns are 2,500 mm (98.4 in) apart, the table measures 4,020 x 2,010 mm (158.3 x 79.1 in), and the travels are 4,000 mm (157.5 in) in X, 3,200 mm (126.0 in) in Y and 1,000 mm (39.3 in) in Z.

Three HVM machines share that 4,000 mm X stroke, and they differ only in how wide a part they accept. The HVM-4018 has 1,800 mm (70.9 in) between the columns. The HVM-4032 has 3,200 mm (126.0 in). What does not change across the three is the table rating: 12,000 kg (26,400 lb) here, and the same on both siblings. A wider table on this model therefore means more area for the same mass, which suits plate work and open fabrications better than solid blocks.

Weight is 53,000 kg (116,600 lb), and the footprint is 10,480 mm (413 in) by 6,775 mm (267 in) with a height of 5,600 mm (220 in). X rapid is 15,000 mm/min (590.6 IPM) and cutting feed is 1 ~ 10,000 mm/min (0.04 ~ 393.7 IPM). No rapid figure for Y or Z appears in this model's table, so ask AWEA for it if cross-travel time matters to your cycle.

Tooling is common to the whole series. The spindle is BT 50 (7 / 24) with a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor, and the magazine takes 60 tools, or 90 or 120 as options, each up to 400 mm (15.7 in) long and 25 kg (55 lb).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 2,500 mm (98.4 in) between the columns, against 1,800 mm (70.9 in) on the HVM-4018
  • 4,020 x 2,010 mm (158.3 x 79.1 in) table with 3,200 mm (126.0 in) of Y travel
  • Keeps the 15,000 mm/min (590.6 IPM) X rapid and the 10,000 mm/min (393.7 IPM) top cutting feed of the smaller machines
  • Magazine accepts tools up to 400 mm (15.7 in) long and 25 kg (55 lb)
  • Repeatability of ± 0.003 mm (± 0.0001 in)

Limitations

  • Table load stays at 12,000 kg (26,400 lb) although the table is wider than that of the HVM-4018
  • No Y or Z rapid traverse figure is listed for this model
  • 53,000 kg (116,600 lb) machine weight, heavier than the 49,000 kg (107,800 lb) HVM-4018
  • Z travel is 1,000 mm (39.3 in) on every HVM size, so a taller part is not a reason to move up

Best For

Plates and fabrications that fit the 4,020 x 2,010 mm (158.3 x 79.1 in) table, worked on the top and all four sides Parts too wide for the 1,800 mm (70.9 in) column opening of the HVM-4018 Light, large-area workpieces within the 12,000 kg (26,400 lb) table rating Mould bases and machine frames needing BT 50 tooling

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What changes between the HVM-4018, HVM-4025 and HVM-4032?

Width. All three have 4,000 mm (157.5 in) of X travel and a 12,000 kg (26,400 lb) table. The HVM-4018 has 1,800 mm (70.9 in) between the columns and 2,500 mm (98.4 in) of Y. The HVM-4025 has 2,500 mm (98.4 in) between the columns and 3,200 mm (126.0 in) of Y. The HVM-4032 has 3,200 mm (126.0 in) between the columns and 3,900 mm (153.5 in) of Y.

02 How heavy a workpiece can the HVM-4025 carry?

The table load capacity is 12,000 kg (26,400 lb) on a 4,020 x 2,010 mm (158.3 x 79.1 in) table. Count fixtures, risers and angle plates in that figure. For more mass on this frame width the HVM-6025 is rated at 17,000 kg (37,400 lb), with 6,000 mm (236.2 in) of X travel.

03 Is the Y travel of the HVM-4025 larger than its table?

Yes. Y travel is 3,200 mm (126.0 in), while the table is 2,010 mm (79.1 in) wide and the columns are 2,500 mm (98.4 in) apart. The surplus stroke lets the head move out past the edge of the part for work on its side faces.

04 What should be checked before installing an HVM-4025?

The machine weighs 53,000 kg (116,600 lb) and is listed at 10,480 mm (413 in) long, 6,775 mm (267 in) wide and 5,600 mm (220 in) high. Foundation design, crane capacity and door openings should all be checked against those figures, plus the 12,000 kg (26,400 lb) the table can add.
