How much does the AWEA LG-8030 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LG-8030 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
On the AWEA LG-8030 the gantry covers 8,000 mm (315.0 in) in X over a fixed 8,000 x 2,800 mm (315.0 x 110.2 in) table, with 3,000 mm (118.1 in) of Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z. A machine this long and this narrow is bought for beams, frames, rails and machine beds, or for two shorter jobs set up end to end.
What turns it from a long vertical mill into a 5-face machine is the head system. AWEA builds its own angle, extension and universal heads, located on a Japanese 2-piece curvic coupling with hand scraped contact faces, and says the automatic head can be controlled by programming. An automatic head changer and a vertical / horizontal ATC system are offered for the series. None of this appears in the spec table as standard equipment, so the head list belongs in the quotation.
Spindle choice matters as much. Standard is the 4,000 rpm gear spindle: two-speed gearbox, 26 kW (35 HP) motor, 982 Nm at 253 rpm. The optional built-in spindles reach 6,000 rpm or 8,000 rpm with a maximum of 600 Nm at 350 rpm, and they use a FANUC built-in motor. Steel fabrications and castings favour the gear spindle. Aluminium structures favour the built-in one.
X rapid is 20 m/min (787 ipm) on the rack and pinion drive. Over this length the VDI figures are P = 0.040 mm for X positioning and Ps = 0.030 mm for repeatability, a step wider than the LG-6030 at P = 0.035 mm and Ps = 0.026 mm.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 8,000 mm (315.0 in) of X travel at a 20 m/min (787 ipm) rapid
- Maker-built angle, extension and universal heads located on a 2-piece curvic coupling
- Choice of high-torque gear spindle (982 Nm at 253 rpm) or FANUC built-in spindle up to 8,000 rpm
- Floating type hydraulic tool release keeps unclamping pressure off the spindle bearing
- Table and side columns are modular, the basis on which AWEA extends X travel
Limitations
- X positioning of P = 0.040 mm and repeatability of Ps = 0.030 mm, wider than the shorter 3,000 mm models
- Only 2,800 mm (110.2 in) of table width under 8,000 mm of length
- The built-in spindles give a maximum of 600 Nm, well under the 982 Nm of the standard gear spindle
- Head changer and horizontal ATC are things the series could be equipped with, not standard rows in the table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
AWEA says all its milling heads, covering angle heads, an extension head and a universal head, are self developed and assembled. The contact surfaces of heads and covers are hand scraped and a Japanese 2-piece curvic coupling positions them. The automatic milling head can be controlled by programming, and an automatic head changer is available for the series.
02
The standard gear spindle runs to 4,000 rpm and delivers 982 Nm at 253 rpm from a 26 kW (35 HP) motor, with 5,000 / 6,000 rpm gear versions optional. The built-in spindles run to 6,000 rpm or 8,000 rpm with a maximum of 600 Nm at 350 rpm. Heavy cuts in steel point to the gear unit; lighter, faster cutting points to the built-in motor.
03
The VDI rows give P = 0.040 mm for X positioning over full travel and Ps = 0.030 mm for repeatability. Y and Z are tighter at P = 0.025 mm and Ps = 0.020 mm. For comparison, the LG-10030 with 10,000 mm (393.7 in) of X is listed at P = 0.050 mm and Ps = 0.038 mm.
04
AWEA fits a floating type hydraulic tool release device, which it says eliminates pressure on the spindle bearing when a tool is released. The taper is CAT50 (7 / 24), and the magazine accepts tools up to 20 kg (44 lb) and 350 mm (13.8 in) long from the gauge line.
