How much does the AWEA LP-5025YZF cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AWEA LP-5025YZF that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Milling heads are what turn the AWEA LP-5025YZF from a long bridge mill into a 5-face machine, so start there. AWEA develops and assembles its own heads and hand scrapes the contact surfaces of heads and covers. This model gives them 5,000 mm (196.9 in) of X, 3,200 mm (126.0 in) of Y and 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z to work in.
The maker's head list runs from manual to fully automatic. A manual universal head has manual clamping, 45° manual indexing on C and 5° on A, and runs to 3,000 rpm. The semi-automatic universal head clamps itself and indexes C automatically in 5° steps, with a top speed of 2,000 rpm. The automatic orthogonal universal head clamps both head and tool automatically, indexes A and C in steps of 5°, 2.5° or 1° and is listed at 3,000 / 4,500 rpm. Every one of these is an option, each with a maximum output of 22 kW (30 HP).
Note what those speeds mean. Whatever spindle is in the ram, side-face cutting happens at the head's speed, so the standard 4,000 rpm high torque spindle (977 N-m at 254 rpm, per AWEA) is a sensible match for head work.
The table is 5,020 x 2,400 mm (197.6 x 94.5 in) and holds 18,000 kg (39,683 lb). X and Z both rapid at 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm), Y at 15,000 mm/min (591 ipm), and cutting feed is 1 ~ 5,000 mm/min (0.04 ~ 197 ipm). At 49,000 kg (108,025 lb) the machine weighs the same as the LP-6025YF, which is one size longer with the shorter Z.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z and 200 ~ 1,200 mm (7.9 ~ 47.2 in) of nose-to-table distance leave room under a milling head
- Optional automatic universal head with A and C indexing in 5°, 2.5° or 1° steps
- AWEA builds its own milling heads and hand scrapes their contact surfaces
- 18,000 kg (39,683 lb) table load on 5,020 x 2,400 mm (197.6 x 94.5 in)
- Standard 4,000 rpm gear spindle stated at 977 N-m at 254 rpm
Limitations
- Every milling head on AWEA's list is an option
- The semi-automatic universal head is limited to 2,000 rpm and the manual one to 3,000 rpm
- X and Z rapids are both 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm), and cutting feed ends at 5,000 mm/min (197 ipm)
- 49,000 kg (108,025 lb), compared with 45,000 kg (99,206 lb) for the LP-5025YF

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Three are described. The manual universal head has 45° manual indexing on the C axis and 5° on the A axis at up to 3,000 rpm. The semi-automatic universal head has automatic head clamping, automatic 5° C-axis indexing and manual 5° A-axis indexing at up to 2,000 rpm. The automatic orthogonal type indexes both axes in 5°, 2.5° or 1° steps at 3,000 / 4,500 rpm, with CTS listed as a further option.
02
In an automatic head storage magazine with two cabinets, one for the horizontal head and one for the spindle cap. AWEA says the heads slide on linear guide ways for a quick change, and that each cabinet has its own swing door which opens only during the exchange to keep contamination out.
03
The heads on AWEA's list are each given a maximum output of 22 kW (30 HP). The spindle motor of the LP-5025YZF is rated 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP), so the head limit corresponds to the continuous rating of the motor.
04
The LP-5025YF has 760 mm (29.9 in) of Z, a 6,000 rpm spindle, a Z rapid of 15,000 mm/min (591 ipm) and weighs 45,000 kg (99,206 lb). The LP-5025YZF has 1,000 mm (39.4 in) of Z, a 4,000 rpm standard spindle, a Z rapid of 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm) and weighs 49,000 kg (108,025 lb). Table, Y travel and the 18,000 kg (39,683 lb) load are common to both.
