Overview

With the AWEA HVM-6032 the HVM table reaches its full size and its full rating: 6,020 x 2,400 mm (237.0 x 94.5 in) and 20,000 kg (44,000 lb). Neither figure grows on the two larger models. The HVM-6033Y and HVM-7033Y add travel, not table. For a buyer whose question is how much part the series can hold, this five-face bridge type machining center is already the answer.

Travels are 6,000 mm (236.2 in) in X, 3,900 mm (153.5 in) in Y and 1,000 mm (39.3 in) in Z, with 3,200 mm (126.0 in) between the columns. Compare that with the HVM-6033Y: 4,500 mm (177.2 in) of Y and 3,300 mm (129.9 in) between the columns. The Y model's gain is mostly head overtravel at the sides. The HVM-6032 answers with a quicker cross axis, 12,000 mm/min (472 ipm) in Y where the 6033Y is listed at 10,000 mm/min.

Along the bed the pace is modest. X rapid is 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm), Z rapid the same, and the cutting feed ceiling is 5,000 mm/min (196.9 IPM). Long finishing passes at that feed take time, and the 60-tool magazine with its 90 and 120 tool options suits cycles that run for hours.

Listed weight is 57,000 kg (125,400 lb), with a length of 14,875 mm (585 in). The width figure of 6,775 mm (267 in) looks low for a 3,200 mm column opening; the HVM-4032 is listed at 7,475 mm (294 in). Ask AWEA for the installation drawing.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 20,000 kg (44,000 lb) table load, the highest rating in the HVM series
  • 6,020 x 2,400 mm (237.0 x 94.5 in) table, equal to that of the HVM-6033Y and HVM-7033Y
  • Y rapid of 12,000 mm/min (472 ipm); the HVM-6033Y lists 10,000 mm/min
  • 6,000 mm (236.2 in) of X travel with positioning accuracy of ± 0.015 mm (± 0.0006 in) full travel
  • Lighter than the HVM-6033Y: 57,000 kg (125,400 lb) against 59,000 kg (129,800 lb)

Limitations

  • Cutting feed tops out at 5,000 mm/min (196.9 IPM); the HVM-5032 allows 8,000 mm/min (315.0 IPM)
  • Y travel of 3,900 mm (153.5 in) is less than the 4,500 mm (177.2 in) of the HVM-6033Y
  • Listed width of 6,775 mm (267 in) conflicts with the 7,475 mm (294 in) given for the HVM-4032; confirm it
  • Z travel remains 1,000 mm (39.3 in) despite the size of the table

Best For

Workpieces up to 20,000 kg (44,000 lb) Large machine beds, columns and press parts close to 6,000 mm (236.2 in) long Wide, heavy weldments that fill a 6,020 x 2,400 mm (237.0 x 94.5 in) table Multi-hour five-sided cycles that need 90 or 120 tools on hand

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Should I choose the HVM-6032 or the HVM-6033Y?

The table and its 20,000 kg (44,000 lb) rating are identical, as is the 6,000 mm (236.2 in) X travel. The HVM-6032 has 3,900 mm (153.5 in) of Y travel, 3,200 mm (126.0 in) between the columns and Y / Z rapids of 12,000 / 10,000 mm/min (472 / 394 ipm). The HVM-6033Y has 4,500 mm (177.2 in) of Y, 3,300 mm (129.9 in) between the columns, Y / Z rapids of 10,000 / 10,000 mm/min (393.7 / 393.7 IPM) and weighs 59,000 kg (129,800 lb).

02 What is the maximum table load in the AWEA HVM series?

20,000 kg (44,000 lb), first reached on the HVM-6032. The HVM-6033Y and HVM-7033Y carry the same rating. The HVM-5032 is rated at 18,000 kg (39,600 lb) and the HVM-6025 at 17,000 kg (37,400 lb).

03 How does the HVM-6032 handle large-diameter tools?

Maximum tool diameter is listed as 127 / 240 mm (5.0 / 9.4 in), with the second figure applying when adjacent pockets are empty. Tool length can be up to 400 mm (15.7 in) and tool weight up to 25 kg (55 lb), on a BT 50 (7 / 24) spindle with a 22 / 26 kW (30 / 35 HP) motor.

04 What repeatability does the HVM-6032 hold?

AWEA lists repeatability of ± 0.003 mm (± 0.0001 in) and positioning accuracy of ± 0.015 mm (± 0.0006 in) over full travel. Those are machine figures; a part weighing up to 20,000 kg (44,000 lb) brings its own thermal and clamping effects.
