How much does the Zimmermann FZU22 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Zimmermann FZU22 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Zimmermann FZU22 is the entry machine of the range: a compact 5-axis gantry in monoblock structure, with X travel of 1,800 or 2,500 mm (71 or 98 in), Y of 3,000 or 3,500 mm (118 or 138 in) and a single Z of 1,250 mm (49 in). Unusually, Y is the long axis. The machine is wider than it is deep, and the required space shows it: 3,330 – 4,030 mm in length against 6,670 – 7,670 mm in width, with a height of 4,580 mm.
Instead of a slotted table, the work area has 5 clamping bars with 30 x M12 threaded holes at a spacing of 250 mm, rated at 500 kg/m². That is a fixturing system for models, molded parts and trimmed composite panels, not for steel blocks. It fits the materials Zimmermann names: aluminum, plastics, wood and the finishing of CFRP parts.
Both available heads, S2 and C2, carry the same 15 kW spindle, 18 kW at S6, with an HSK-F63 holder and 12 Nm of torque at S1. The data sheet gives the distance from swivel axis to spindle nose as 174 mm for both, and for the S2 a centre offset of 130 mm between spindle and C axis. Rotary travel is ±96° or ±120° on A and ±270° on C. The tool is held by a spring clamp and released pneumatically.
X and Y feed at up to 70 m/min and Z at up to 40 m/min. Zimmermann stresses the small footprint and says the machine can go into smaller production areas without extensive infrastructure modifications. If the part outgrows 2,500 mm in X, the FZP22 continues the same concept at 3,000, 4,000 or 5,000 mm.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Compact footprint: 3,330 – 4,030 mm long and 4,580 mm high without peripherals
- Y travel of 3,000 or 3,500 mm (118 or 138 in) on a machine with at most 2,500 mm of X
- Feed rates of up to 70 m/min in X and Y
- 15 kW spindle with HSK-F63 on both the S2 and the C2 head
- Monoblock structure that Zimmermann says installs without extensive infrastructure modifications
Limitations
- Table load is 500 kg/m² on clamping bars, so heavy fixtures and steel workpieces are out
- Only one Z travel is offered: 1,250 mm (49 in)
- Spindle torque is 12 Nm at S1 and 14 Nm at S6
- Accuracy is specified only as in accordance to VDI/DGQ 3441 or ISO 230-2

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X is 1,800 or 2,500 mm (71 or 98 in), Y is 3,000 or 3,500 mm (118 or 138 in) and Z is 1,250 mm (49 in). The data sheet notes that other dimensions are available on request.
02
On clamping bars rather than a T-slot table. The table lists 5 clamping bars with 30 x M12 threaded holes, a distance of 250 mm between the holes and a load of 500 kg/m². Fixtures are bolted to the bars, an arrangement that suits frames and fixtures for light parts more than heavy vises. A vacuum system is on the list of optional equipment.
03
The FZU22 data sheet treats them together: both use the 15 kW, HSK-F63 spindle and both measure 174 mm from swivel axis to spindle nose. The one difference it prints is a centre offset of 130 mm between the spindle and the C axis on the S2. Swivelling ranges are ±96° or ±120° for A and ±270° for C.
04
Without peripherals: 3,330 – 4,030 mm in length, 6,670 – 7,670 mm in width and 4,580 mm in height. Zimmermann describes the footprint as relatively small and says the machine can be integrated into workshops with limited space. Optional mist/dust extraction needs its own floor area.
05
Unibody. Zimmermann explains that in the U line the machine bed is integrated and offers flexible installation options, and it describes the FZU22 as a monoblock structure. The FZP22 is the related machine with longer X travels of 3,000, 4,000 or 5,000 mm.
