Overview

A C-axis that spins at 1,000 rpm turns the Anger Machining SK800T from a 5-axis mill into a mill-turn gantry. Anger describes it as a high-speed C-axis for turning operations, and the tool interface changes with it to HSK63T, with HSK100T in brackets.

The appeal is doing turned and milled features in one clamping. An engine blisk or housing can have its bores and faces turned and its pockets, slots or blade profiles milled in 5 axes without leaving the table. The table is ø800 mm, takes 1,300 kg (2,866 lb) and parts up to ø900x500 mm; whether a given part may run at full C-axis speed at that weight is a question for Anger.

Spindle figures are narrower than on the SK800TR: 12,000 - 24,000 rpm, 30-50/38-76 kW and 88-200/123-302 Nm (S1/S6-60%). Linear axes are unchanged, with 800 mm (31.5 in) of X, 830 mm (32.7 in) of Y and 560 mm (22.0 in) of Z, rapids of 48/48/48 m/min and acceleration of 4/4/4 m/s². Positioning accuracy is stated as 0.008 mm and repeatability as 0.005 mm as per VDI 3441.

Chip-to-chip time is 26 s, so the process should be planned around few tool changes. The structure is the SK design: closed U-frame gantry, direct drive motors on the A and C axes, A-axis supported on both sides. Weight is 15,500 kg (34,171 lb) and connected power 80 kVA.

Frequently Asked Questions

01 Can the SK800T do turning?

Yes. Anger lists efficient turning as a key advantage and says the SK800T features a high-speed C-axis for turning operations. The table gives the C-axis 1,000 rpm, against 70 rpm on the SK800TR, and lists HSK63T and HSK100T tool holders.

02 What are the spindle ratings of the SK800T?

12,000 - 24,000 rpm, 30-50/38-76 kW and 88-200/123-302 Nm, the power and torque as S1/S6-60% ranges. A footnote to the table says 7 spindle variants are available, so the figures depend on the variant ordered.

03 How big a workpiece fits?

Parts up to ø900x500 mm and 1,300 kg (2,866 lb) on a ø800 mm table with 14 mm T-slots. A second footnote says the table is available in different versions. Travels are 800 mm, 830 mm and 560 mm in X, Y and Z.

04 What tools does the magazine take?

HSK63 tools: 32, with 64 as the bracketed figure, up to 300 mm long and 8 kg. HSK100 tools: 24, with 60 as the bracketed figure, up to 350 mm long and 15 kg. The tool holder row for this model reads HSK63T (HSK100T).

05 How does the SK800T differ from the HS1400T?

Both combine 5-axis milling with turning. The SK800T is a vertical gantry for parts up to ø900x500 mm and 1,300 kg with a 1,000 rpm C-axis. The HS1400T is a horizontal machine for parts up to ø1,800/1,200 mm and 3,200 kg, with 700 rpm on its turning axis.
