Overview

For the largest parts in the GT range, the Anger Machining GT-800E pairs a ø800 mm table rated at 800 kg (1,764 lb) with travels of 800 mm (31.5 in) in X, 820 mm (32.3 in) in Y and 560 mm (22.0 in) in Z. The maximum part is ø900x500 mm.

Note the proportions. The part diameter exceeds the X travel, which is normal for a rotary-tilt machine: the far side of a disc is reached by turning the C-axis, not by travelling across it. Z travel and part height, 560 mm and 500 mm, are the same as on the GT-630(F), so the extra capacity is in diameter and weight, not in height.

Engine housings and large blisks are the obvious candidates. With 800 kg available, steel mould inserts with their fixtures are possible too. The heavier table assembly raises machine weight to 17,000 kg (37,478 lb), and acceleration is 5/5/5 m/s² with rapids of 48/48/48 m/min.

Spindle and tooling data do not change with size in this series: 15,000 - 24,000 rpm, a power row of 40/40 kW (S1/S6-40%) with two bracketed alternatives, BBT-40 tools up to 8 kg, and magazines of 32, 40, 64 or 80 tools. An 800 kg workpiece in titanium or steel will ask for the most torque-oriented of those spindles and for the roller-cam swivel drive, which Anger describes as the high-torque choice. The SK800TR, with HSK63A or HSK100A spindles and a 1,300 kg table, is the heavier alternative at a similar size.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • ø800 mm table carrying 800 kg (1,764 lb)
  • Accepts parts up to ø900x500 mm on the rotary-tilt table
  • Magazine options of 32, 40, 64 or 80 tools
  • Same 2,200/4,960/3,290 mm footprint as the GT-630(F)
  • Rapids of 48/48/48 m/min on all linear axes
  • Integrated temperature sensors compensating spindle bearing growth

Limitations

  • BBT-40 interface with an 8 kg tool limit, light for an 800 kg workpiece
  • Z travel of 560 mm and part height of 500 mm are no greater than on the GT-630(F)
  • Chip-to-chip time is 7 s at 1,800 rpm
  • Positioning accuracy and repeatability are not stated in the GT table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the largest part the GT-800E can machine?

The maximum part size is ø900x500 mm on a ø800 mm table, with a table load of 800 kg (1,764 lb). Linear travels are 800 mm in X, 820 mm in Y and 560 mm in Z.

02 Why is the part diameter larger than the X travel?

The table states ø900x500 mm for the part and 800 mm for X. On a machine with a rotary C-axis under the part, the spindle only needs to reach from the centre outward, and the table rotation brings the rest of the circumference to the tool. Confirm reach for features at the outer edge when tilting the A-axis.

03 What separates the GT-800E from the SK800TR?

Both are 5-axis gantry machines for parts up to ø900x500 mm. The SK800TR carries 1,300 kg, uses HSK63A or HSK100A spindles and states 0.008 mm positioning accuracy as per VDI 3441. The GT-800E carries 800 kg on a BBT-40 spindle, is the faster to change tools at 7 s against 26 s on the SK800TR, and accelerates at 5/5/5 m/s² against 4/4/4 m/s².

04 Which spindle options exist?

Speeds of 15,000 - 24,000 rpm are listed. The power row gives 40/40 kW (S1/S6-40%) and, in brackets, 30/40 kW and 35/42 kW. Connected power is 45, 60 or 80 kVA depending on the spindle.

05 What controls and supply does it use?

Siemens and Heidenhain controls are listed. The supply is 3x380 V, with 3x220 V noted for Fanuc, and lubrication is given as KSS. The machine measures 2,200/4,960/3,290 mm (L/W/H) and weighs 17,000 kg (37,478 lb).
