Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Anger Machining GT-500 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Anger Machining GT-500 is the smallest and liveliest of the GT 5-axis gantry machines. Its linear axes travel 610 mm (24.0 in) in X and Y and 510 mm (20.1 in) in Z and accelerate at 10/10/10 m/s², where the GT-630(F) and GT-800E list 5/5/5 m/s².
The table is ø500 mm, carries 400 kg (882 lb) and accepts parts up to ø600x400 mm. On a rotary-tilt table that covers impellers, small blisks, blades and mould inserts, all of which Anger names as typical workpieces. The swivel axes are offered with direct drive or with a backlash-free roller-cam gearbox, the first for fast positioning and the second for torque.
A gantry carries all three linear axes above the work, with the drives arranged at the centre of gravity, so the weight of the part does not ride on the linear axes. Anger gives that as the reason for low-vibration dynamics and path accuracy. Temperature sensors compensate for thermal growth of the spindle bearings.
Spindles run from 15,000 to 24,000 rpm. The power row reads 40/40 kW (S1/S6-40%), with 30/40 kW and 35/42 kW as the bracketed alternatives, and the connected power is 45, 60 or 80 kVA depending on the spindle. The magazine holds 32 BBT-40 tools, or 40 tools, and chip-to-chip time is 7 s.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Axis acceleration of 10/10/10 m/s², the highest of the GT series
- Spindle speeds from 15,000 to 24,000 rpm
- Direct drive or roller-cam drive on the A/C swivel axes
- Gantry with all linear drives at the centre of gravity
- Compact 2,100/4,500/3,280 mm (L/W/H) envelope for a 5-axis gantry
Limitations
- Table load is 400 kg and part size ø600x400 mm
- Tool diameter is 80 mm as standard, 125 mm in the bracketed version; tool weight is limited to 8 kg
- Chip-to-chip time of 7 s is long for multi-tool parts
- Magazine tops out at 40 tools, while the GT-630(F) and GT-800E also list 64 or 80 tools

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X and Y travel are 610 mm (24.0 in) each and Z travel is 510 mm (20.1 in). The table is ø500 mm with 18 mm T-slots, the maximum part size is ø600x400 mm and the table load is 400 kg (882 lb).
02
The table gives a speed range of 15,000 - 24,000 rpm and a power row of 40/40 kW (S1/S6-40%), followed in brackets by 30/40 kW and 35/42 kW. Total connected power is listed as 45/60/80 kVA depending on the spindle. The tool holder is BBT-40.
03
Anger offers an optional direct drive or a backlash-free gearbox on the A/C axis. Its text explains the choice: direct drives for high-precision, fast positioning, roller-cam systems for high torque and long service life in heavy-duty machining.
04
The GT-630(F) is the next size up, with 760 mm, 820 mm and 560 mm of travel, a ø630 mm table and 600 kg of table load. The GT-500 is smaller and accelerates harder, 10/10/10 m/s² against 5/5/5 m/s² on the GT-630(F), and at 13,500 kg it is lighter than the GT-630(F) at 16,000 kg.
05
Siemens and Heidenhain are listed under NC control. The operating voltage row reads 3x380 V, with 3x220 V noted for Fanuc. Lubrication is given as KSS.
