Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Anger Machining HS1400 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
A 35,000 kg (77,160 lb) horizontal 5-axis machine for large aerospace structures, the Anger Machining HS1400 travels 1,800 mm (70.9 in) in X, 1,250 mm (49.2 in) in Y and 1,320 mm (52.0 in) in Z. It takes parts up to ø1,800/1,200 mm and loads of 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) on a table that the datasheet gives as ø1,000 - 1,400 mm.
Torque is the reason to choose it. Anger quotes spindles with up to 500 Nm for nickel and titanium alloys, and the table for this model shows a torque range of 48.2-318/60.5-500 Nm with 45-60/54-78.5 kW, both as S1/S6-60% ratings. HSK100A is the listed tool holder and the magazine is sized to match: tools up to 125 mm in diameter, with 250 mm in brackets, 450 mm long and 25 kg.
Speeds run from 12,000 to 24,000 rpm depending on the spindle, and HSK63A appears in brackets as the alternative interface, so the same frame can be set up for aluminium structures. Wing ribs, stringers, flap tracks and structural frames are on Anger's list of typical workpieces next to engine housings.
The structure is a T-shaped base with double walls and symmetrical ribs, with direct drive motors on the swivel axes. Linear rapids are 50/50/50 m/min and the C-axis turns at 70 rpm, which is a positioning speed; turning work is the job of the HS1400T, whose C-axis reaches 700 rpm. Plan the installation early: 8,700/6,500/4,291 mm (L/W/H) and 130 kVA of connected power. An automatic pallet changer is listed as an option for this size.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Torque range of 48.2-318/60.5-500 Nm (S1/S6-60%) for heavy cuts in titanium and nickel alloys
- Travels of 1,800 mm, 1,250 mm and 1,320 mm with parts up to ø1,800/1,200 mm
- Table load of 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) on a table of ø1,000 - 1,400 mm
- Takes tools up to 450 mm long and 25 kg, with 40 tools in the listed magazine
- Wide front doors and L-shaped sliding doors for loading large workpieces
Limitations
- Chip-to-chip time is 20 s at 1,800 rpm, slow for parts with many tool changes
- Weighs 35,000 kg and occupies 8,700/6,500/4,291 mm, so foundation and access need planning
- C-axis speed of 70 rpm does not support turning; that needs the HS1400T at 700 rpm
- Rapids of 50/50/50 m/min are below the 60/60/60 m/min of the HS700

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The table lists 48.2-318/60.5-500 Nm as S1/S6-60% ratings, a range that covers several spindles, together with 45-60/54-78.5 kW and 12,000 - 24,000 rpm. Anger describes the 500 Nm spindles as intended for heavy machining of nickel and titanium alloys.
02
X travel is 1,800 mm (70.9 in), Y is 1,250 mm (49.2 in) and Z is 1,320 mm (52.0 in). The maximum part size is ø1,800/1,200 mm and the table carries 2,000 kg (4,409 lb). Table size is given as ø1,000 - 1,400 mm with T-slots of 14-18 mm, and Anger notes that special tables are possible.
03
The frame, travels and footprint are the same. The HS1400T adds turning: its C-axis runs at 700 rpm instead of 70 rpm, its table load rises to 3,200 kg and it uses an HSK100T tool holder with 12,000 rpm listed. The HS1400 keeps the wider spindle choice, up to 24,000 rpm, for pure milling.
04
40 tools in the listed version, with 60, 90 or 120 tools in brackets. A tool can be up to 125 mm in diameter, with 250 mm shown in brackets, up to 450 mm long and up to 25 kg. Chip-to-chip time is 20 s.
05
Space and power. The machine measures 8,700/6,500/4,291 mm (L/W/H) and weighs 35,000 kg (77,160 lb). The connection is 3x380 V with 130 kVA of total connected power, and the lubrication row of the table reads KSS.
