Overview

A 32 in chuck and a spindle bore of 375 mm (14.8 in): the Accuway UT-600L is a lathe for very large hollow work. Maximum turning diameter is 900 mm (35.4 in) and the swing over bed 1,030 mm (40.6 in).

Five spindle columns are tabled. Three use an A2-15 nose, with bores of 205 mm (8.1 in), 235 mm (9.3 in) and 258 mm (10.2 in) and speeds of 1,500 rpm, 850 rpm and 800 rpm. Two use an A2-20 nose with a 32 in chuck: a 320 mm (12.6 in) bore at 400 rpm and a 375 mm (14.8 in) bore at 300 rpm. The motor is the same throughout, 30/37 kW (40.2/49.6 hp) with a 2-step gearbox. At 300 rpm that power becomes a great deal of torque, which is what facing a large flange or threading large-diameter casing needs.

This is the short bed of the series, with 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of Z travel and a 1,300 mm (51.2 in) turning length. X travel is 495 mm (19.5 in), more than on the UT-400L at 380 mm (15.0 in). Rapids are 20 m/min (787 in/min) in X and 24 m/min (945 in/min) in Z.

Despite the larger swing, the listed weight of 14,500 kg (31,966 lb) is close to the UT-400L, and the length is the same 6.2 m; the machine is taller at 3 m. The 12-station BOT turret and the 160 mm (6.3 in) MT#6 tailstock quill are shared with the UT-400 line. Steady rest and APT 60 power turret are optional.
