Overview

BMT-75 is the detail that defines the Accuway UT-360LM. Where the lighter Accuway live-tool lathes use BMT/VDI or BMT-65 turrets, this one carries the larger interface, with a 5.5 kW (7.4 hp) rotary tool motor at 4,000 rpm behind it.

The single 5.5 kW figure, rather than a continuous and short-time pair, is how the table prints it. For milling on a lathe it is a useful amount: slotting and face milling in steel are realistic, as is drilling at diameters where smaller driven turrets stall. There is no Y axis in the table, so cuts are on the centreline.

The platform is the UT-360L. Z travel is 1,250 mm (49.2 in), turning diameter 540 mm (21.3 in), and weight 7,000 kg (15,432 lb). Unusually, the live turret does not reduce the turning diameter here; it only shortens the turning length, to 1,040 mm (40.9 in) with the A2-8 nose and 960 mm (37.8 in) with A2-11.

The spindle is the 18.5/22 kW (24.8/29.5 hp) unit, at 2,700 rpm with a 12 in chuck or 2,500 rpm and 2,000 rpm with 15 in chucks. Tool shanks are 32 mm (1.3 in) square and 50 mm (2.0 in) round. The tailstock has an MT#6 quill and 1,040 mm (40.9 in) of body travel. Rotary tool holders, 0 degree and 90 degree, are optional accessories marked for this model, as are a steady rest and a gear box.

A 12-station BMT-75 turret with servo mechanical drive. Rotary tool speed is 4,000 rpm and rotary tool motor power 5.5 kW (7.4 hp). The 0 degree and 90 degree rotary tool holders are listed as optional accessories.

02 How does the UT-360LM compare with the UT-300LM?

The UT-300LM has a BMT/VDI turret, a 3.7/5.5 kW (5.0/7.4 hp) rotary tool motor, a 420 mm (16.5 in) turning diameter and 6,000 kg (13,228 lb) of weight. The UT-360LM has BMT-75, 5.5 kW (7.4 hp), 540 mm (21.3 in) and 7,000 kg (15,432 lb). Both have 1,250 mm (49.2 in) of Z travel.

03 What turning length does the UT-360LM give?

1,040 mm (40.9 in) in the A2-8 column and 960 mm (37.8 in) in the two A2-11 columns. The UT-360L without rotary tools reaches 1,130 mm (44.5 in) on the same bed.

04 Is there a short-bed live-tool UT-360?

No UT-360M page is listed. The short UT-360 offers an APT 50 power turret with CS contouring control or CF Axis Control as an optional accessory, without rotary tool figures in its table.
