Overview

The Accuway UM-110W puts a BT50 spindle on the 1,100 mm frame. Where the UM-110 turns 10,000 rpm on a 70 mm (2.8 in) bearing, this one is listed at 6,000 rpm with a 90 mm (3.5 in) bearing inner diameter and a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor on a belt drive. It is the entry point of Accuway's BT-50 group.

Travels are 1,100 mm (43.3 in), 550 mm (21.7 in) and 550 mm (21.7 in). The table is 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2 x 23.6 in) and takes 1,200 kg (2,646 lb). Those are the figures of the UM-110, and the net weight is the same 7,500 kg (16,534 lb), so the W changes the head and the tooling more than the base.

Tooling is the point. The magazine accepts tools of 15 kg (33 lb), 105 mm (4.1 in) in diameter with neighbours in place and 210 mm (8.3 in) without, against 7 kg (15 lb) and 75 mm (3.0 in) on the UM-110. Large face mills, long boring bars and big drills become usable. Capacity is 24, with 32 bracketed.

Guideway bearings are Roller, rapids are 30 m/min (1,181 in/min), and the Z feed motor is larger: the X/Y/Z row reads 3/3/7 kW. A 2-step gear box is offered as an option for more low-speed torque than the belt drive gives. Spindle nose to table is 155~705 mm (6.1~27.8 in).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • BT50 spindle with a 90 mm (3.5 in) bearing inner diameter and a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor
  • Tools up to 15 kg (33 lb) and 210 mm (8.3 in) in diameter without adjacent tools
  • Roller guideways with 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) rapids on all axes
  • A 2-step gear box is available as an optional accessory

Limitations

  • Spindle speed is 6,000 rpm, which limits small-tool and aluminium work
  • Table load of 1,200 kg (2,646 lb) is no higher than the BT40 UM-110
  • Y travel is 550 mm (21.7 in)
  • Belt drive as standard; the gear box costs extra

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does the W mean on the Accuway UM-110W?

Accuway does not define the letter, but the W models sit in its BT-50 group. The UM-110W has a BT50 spindle nose taper, 6,000 rpm and a 15/18.5 kW (20.1/24.8 hp) motor, where the UM-110 has BT40, 10,000 rpm and 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp).

02 How large a tool can the UM-110W change?

Maximum tool weight is 15 kg (33 lb) and maximum length 300 mm (11.8 in). Diameter is limited to 105 mm (4.1 in) with a full magazine, or 210 mm (8.3 in) without adjacent tools. The magazine row reads 24 (32) and the exchange method is arm type.

03 Does the UM-110W have a gearbox?

The drive system row reads Belt. A 2-step gear box appears in the optional accessories, together with spindle speed upgrading. The larger UM-160 and UM-210 list a 2-step gearbox as their drive system.

04 What are the UM-110W travels and table size?

1,100 mm (43.3 in) in X and 550 mm (21.7 in) in both Y and Z, over a 1,200 x 600 mm (47.2 x 23.6 in) table with 5 T-slots of 18 mm at a 100 mm pitch. The table carries 1,200 kg (2,646 lb).
