Overview

Accuway builds the UM-75 on the same Y and Z as its smallest BT40 mill and stretches X to 750 mm (29.5 in). Y travel is 520 mm (20.5 in), Z is 540 mm (21.3 in), and the table grows to 900 x 560 mm (35.4 x 22.0 in). It is a FANUC 0i-M vertical machining center for parts that are long rather than deep.

What stays the same as the UM-60 is nearly everything else: a BT40 spindle at 10,000 rpm, a 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp) motor on continuous and 30 min ratings, 40/40/40 mm (1.6/1.6/1.6 in) ball screws and a 750 kg (1,653 lb) table load. Because the load rating did not rise with the longer table, two vises with parts in them come out of the same allowance as before.

One figure moves the other way. Spindle nose to table is 150~660 mm (5.9~26.0 in) here, where the UM-60 lists 150~690 mm (5.9~27.2 in), so the tallest setup the shorter machine accepts may not clear on this one.

Rapids are 36 m/min (1,417 in/min) in X and Y and 30 m/min (1,181 in/min) in Z, and the cutting feed rate is 12 m/min (472 in/min). The magazine holds 24 tools changed by an arm, each up to 7 kg (15 lb) and 300 mm (11.8 in) long. A tool can be 150 mm (5.9 in) in diameter when the neighbouring pockets are empty, 75 mm (3.0 in) otherwise. Net weight is 5,500 kg (12,125 lb).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 750 mm (29.5 in) of X travel over a 900 x 560 mm (35.4 x 22.0 in) table for long parts or two vises in a row
  • X and Y rapid traverse of 36 m/min (1,417 in/min)
  • AICC II is supplied with the FANUC 0i-M controller as a standard accessory
  • Tools up to 150 mm (5.9 in) in diameter fit when adjacent pockets are left empty

Limitations

  • Table load stays at 750 kg (1,653 lb) although the table is longer than the UM-60's
  • Spindle nose to table tops out at 660 mm (26.0 in), less than on the UM-60
  • Y travel of 520 mm (20.5 in) limits deep plates
  • The 4th axis interface, rotary table and chip conveyor are options, not standard
06

Best For

Long, narrow parts that need 750 mm of X but little Y Two-vise setups on a 900 mm long table General BT40 milling in steel and aluminium up to 10,000 rpm Job shops that want AICC II contour control included

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How big is the working envelope of the UM-75?

750 mm (29.5 in) in X, 520 mm (20.5 in) in Y and 540 mm (21.3 in) in Z. The distance from spindle nose to table runs from 150 to 660 mm, and the table is 900 x 560 mm (35.4 x 22.0 in) with five 18 mm T-slots at a 100 mm pitch.

02 Is the UM-75 spindle belt or direct drive?

The drive row reads Belt (Direct) and the speed row 10,000 rpm with 12,000 rpm in brackets. Spindle speed upgrading is on the optional accessories list, so ask Accuway which drive and speed a quoted machine carries. Motor power is 7.5/11 kW (10.1/14.8 hp).

03 How many tools does the UM-75 carry and how large can they be?

24 tools in an arm type changer. Each can weigh 7 kg (15 lb) and be 300 mm (11.8 in) long. Maximum diameter is 75 mm (3.0 in) with a full magazine and 150 mm (5.9 in) without adjacent tools.

04 What should be checked before installing a UM-75?

The machine measures 2.2 x 2.7 x 2.8 m (86.6 x 106.3 x 110.2 in) and weighs 5,500 kg (12,125 lb). Air supply is listed at 5.5 kg/cm². A transformer and a CE version are optional accessories, so confirm the electrical configuration with the order.
