Overview
The Hwacheon SMART UaX is a 40-taper vertical whose spec list carries a dust collector instead of a coolant tank: 1,300 mm (51.2 in) of X, 750 mm (29.5 in) of Y and only 420 mm (16.5 in) of Z over a 1,200 x 700 mm (47.2 x 27.6 in) table, under Hwacheon's H-SMART control. The table lists a 3.7 kW (5.0 hp) dust collector motor, an indoor collector 3,000 mm (118.1 in) tall or an outdoor one at 4,015 mm (158.1 in), and no coolant capacity. That points to dry cutting of material that leaves fine dust rather than chips; confirm the intended material with Hwacheon before buying.
The tool magazine is unusual. It holds 50 tools in an armless, fixed-address changer, but each tool may be no larger than Ø33 mm (Ø1.3 in), 280 mm (11.0 in) long and 3 kg (6.6 lb). This is a machine for small end mills and ball cutters, not for face mills or boring heads.
Two built-in spindles are offered, 12,000 rpm (12K) and 20,000 rpm (20K), both rated 18.5 / 11 kW (24.8 / 14.8 hp) on a Ø65 mm (Ø2.6 in) bearing bore. The 12K is grease lubricated and the 20K oil-jet lubricated; both are jacket cooled from an oil cooler. The taper is BBT-40 with HSK-A63 as an option.
The table is rated for 400 kg (882 lb), half the 800 kg (1,764 lb) of the SMART Ua STEEL, and has a grid surface; the High Column version has seven 18 x 100 mm T-slots instead. The spindle nose sits 100 ~ 520 mm (3.9 ~ 20.5 in) above the table, the columns are 1,430 mm (56.3 in) apart and the spindle centre is 185 mm (7.3 in) from the column. All axes rapid at 20 m/min (787 ipm) on 4 / 4 / 7 kW (5.4 / 5.4 / 9.4 hp) motors.
