How much does the AccuteX AU-3iA cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the AccuteX AU-3iA that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The AccuteX AU-3iA is the smallest machine in the AU series of standard wire cut EDMs. X travel is 350 mm (13.8 in), Y is 250 mm (9.8 in) and Z is 220 mm (8.7 in), the smallest cutting envelope among AccuteX's wire machines.
Small travels do not mean a small table load. The AU-3iA accepts a workpiece of 800 x 535 x 215 mm (31.5 x 21.1 x 8.5 in) weighing up to 400 kg (882 lb), the same weight the GA-43 carries on longer axes. U and V travel is 80 x 80 mm (3.1 x 3.1 in), and AccuteX lists the maximum cutting taper as ±21° H=80.
This is a machine for tool-room parts: punches, small inserts, electrodes, gauges. For that kind of work the wire threader matters more than the envelope, and AccuteX describes its AWT in some detail. An impulse circuit anneals the wire to straighten it, and the end is then melted by a discharge into a bullet shape of about 0.8mm so that it passes through the guide. After a wire break the system rethreads at the break point instead of going back to the start hole.
Installation is light. The machine weighs 2,900 kg (6,393 lb), its listed footprint is 2,650 x 2,150 x 2,120 mm (104.3 x 84.6 x 83.5 in) and the water system holds 360 L. The wire spool is 10 kg (22 lb). Control is AccuteX's Windows system on a 64-bit Industrial PC with a 21.5" Color TFT Touch Screen.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Compact: 2,900 kg (6,393 lb) and a 360 L water system
- Carries 400 kg (882 lb) on a 350 mm (13.8 in) by 250 mm (9.8 in) machine
- AWT anneals and straightens the wire and melts the end to a bullet shape of about 0.8mm for threading
- Rethreads at the wire break point, without returning to the start point
- Taper cutting to ±21° H=80 with 80 x 80 mm (3.1 x 3.1 in) of U and V travel
Limitations
- X travel of 350 mm (13.8 in) and Y of 250 mm (9.8 in) rule out mid-size plates; the GA-43 offers 400 mm (15.7 in) by 300 mm (11.8 in)
- Z stroke is 220 mm (8.7 in), where the AU-5iA has 300 mm (11.8 in)
- U and V travel is 80 x 80 mm (3.1 x 3.1 in), less than the 100 x 100 mm (3.9 x 3.9 in) of the AU-5iA
- AccuteX describes the linear scale as an option on the AU drive system

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Travels are 350 mm (13.8 in) in X, 250 mm (9.8 in) in Y and 220 mm (8.7 in) in Z. The machine weighs 2,900 kg (6,393 lb) and AccuteX lists its footprint as 2,650 x 2,150 x 2,120 mm (104.3 x 84.6 x 83.5 in). The water system capacity is 360 L.
02
AccuteX gives a maximum workpiece of 800 x 535 x 215 mm (31.5 x 21.1 x 8.5 in) and 400 kg (882 lb). That is larger than the cutting travel, so a block can overhang the 350 mm (13.8 in) by 250 mm (9.8 in) area the wire reaches as long as the features to be cut sit inside it.
03
AccuteX describes a servo-controlled threading system with several detectors. The wire is annealed by an impulse circuit to straighten it, then the end is melted into a bullet shape of about 0.8mm so it feeds through the guide. If the wire breaks during a cut, threading takes place at the break point.
04
The controller table lists 5 Axes / 6 Axes (Opt. W Axis) controlled and 4 Axes / 5 Axes (Opt. W Axis) simultaneous. The minimum command unit is 0.0001 mm / 0.00001 inch, and the control stores 99999 sets of cutting data.
