How much does the Zimmermann FZU32 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Zimmermann FZU32 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Zimmermann FZU32 brings the thermo-symmetrical, centre-guided portal of the larger machines to a unibody that Zimmermann calls remarkably compact. It is the smallest model in the range with published accuracy values: ≤10μm / ≤6μm on the linear axes (A/R to ISO 230-2) and ≤70μm / ≤50μm volumetric as standard, or ≤8μm / ≤4μm and ≤50μm / ≤30μm with increased accuracy.
X travel runs from 2,000 to 6,000 mm (79 to 236 in). Y is 3,000 or 3,500 mm (118 or 138 in) and Z is 1,250 or 1,500 mm (49 or 59 in). The Z choice has a consequence for the VH10 head shown on the data sheet: its C axis covers 300° at a Z of 1,250 mm and the full 360° only at 1,500 mm.
The table carries 6,000 kg/m² up to a maximum of 20,000 kg, three times the area load of the FZU27, with 18H12 T-slots at a 250 mm pitch. Zimmermann names aluminum, fiber composite materials, plastics, ureol and steel as the materials, and offers process cooling with cooling lubricants, minimum quantity lubrication or both. Lubricant cooling is on this machine's option list, so wet machining of metals is part of the concept.
The VH10 spindle is rated 34 kW at S1 and 41 kW at S6, with 39 Nm and 49 Nm, 24,000 rpm and an HSK-A63 holder. Linear axes move at up to 60 m/min and accelerate at up to 3 m/s². Height is 4,800 or 5,400 mm and length 3,500 – 8,100 mm without peripherals. For more acceleration and tighter standard accuracy in a unibody, the next model up is the FZU37.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Published accuracy: ≤10μm / ≤6μm linear and ≤70μm / ≤50μm volumetric (A/R, ISO 230-2) as standard
- Thermo-symmetrical centre-guided portal in a compact unibody
- Table load of 6,000 kg/m², max. 20,000 kg
- 34 kW (S1) HSK-A63 spindle with constant power from 8,260 to 24,000 rpm on the VH10 head

Limitations
- Y travel is limited to 3,000 or 3,500 mm and Z to 1,250 or 1,500 mm
- With the 1,250 mm Z, the C axis of the VH10 head is restricted to 300°
- Acceleration of up to 3 m/s² is below the up to 5 m/s² of the FZU37

Three. Zimmermann describes the VH10 as a slim design for hard-to-reach areas, the VH20 as a dynamic milling head for high machining speeds and the VH30 as particularly stable and temperature-resistant. The data sheet details the VH10 with its 34 kW, 24,000 rpm spindle.

Zimmermann's explanation of the U line is that the machine bed is integrated, which offers flexible installation options, and it calls the FZU32 a mono-block machine. The page gives no foundation specification, so floor requirements should be confirmed for the size ordered.
