Overview
The HNK GPM-60FX is a ram-type 5-axis gantry profiler with a working area of 6,000 x 12,000 mm (236.2 x 472.4 in). The gantry runs 12,000 mm (472.4 in) in X, the head crosses 6,300 mm (248.0 in) in Y, and the ram drops 4,250 mm (167.3 in) in Z.
That Z figure is what sets it apart from HNK's plate profilers, such as the GST-2S with 600 mm (23.6 in) of vertical travel. More than four metres of ram stroke lets the head descend into and around a tall body: a fuselage section, a wing box, a boat hull plug or a large lay-up mould standing on the floor.
The spindle turns at 24,000 rpm. The two head axes are listed as A at ±120° and C at ±245°, which gives full 5-axis surface machining, as HNK puts it, for components of complicated shape. Spindle power, taper and feed rates are not in the table. The control is Siemens 840D.
