How much does the Zimmermann FZP37 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Zimmermann FZP37 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
With up to 40,000 mm (1,575 in) of X travel, 6,000 mm (236 in) of Y and 3,000 mm (118 in) of Z, the Zimmermann FZP37 is a portal milling machine for the largest molds, models and structural parts. Zimmermann lists model making, tool and mold construction, aerospace and automotive work, shipbuilding and the alternative energy industry as its fields, and calls the machine a 5/6-axis design.
Size is not bought with looser tolerances. Standard accuracy on the FZP37 is ≤8μm / ≤4μm (A/R to ISO 230-2) on the linear axes and ≤50μm / ≤30μm volumetric, values the FZP32 only reaches in its increased-accuracy configuration. The increased-accuracy level here is ≤5μm / ≤3μm linear and ≤30μm / ≤20μm volumetric, with thermostability of ≤ 10μm to ISO 230-3.
The data sheet pairs the machine with the VH30 head and two spindles that both turn 30,000 rpm. The 74 kW version delivers 73 Nm at S1 with constant power from 9,690 rpm. The 125 kW version has less torque, 60 Nm at S1, and holds constant power only from 20,000 rpm, so it is the high-speed aluminum spindle of the pair. Both take HSK-A63/80 tooling. The rotary axes move at 360°/s, and the clamped holding torque is 3,000 Nm on A and C.
The table is anchored to the machine base, at or above floor level, and carries max. 5,000 kg/m². That is half the area load of the optional FZP32 table and a third of the FZP42's, which places the FZP37 as the long, fast and accurate machine of the upper range rather than the heavy one. Its linear axes reach up to 60 m/min with up to 5 m/s² of acceleration.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- X travel up to 40,000 mm (1,575 in) with Y up to 6,000 mm (236 in) and Z up to 3,000 mm (118 in)
- Standard linear accuracy of ≤8μm / ≤4μm and volumetric accuracy of ≤50μm / ≤30μm (A/R, ISO 230-2)
- Linear acceleration of up to 5 m/s² at feed rates of up to 60 m/min
- Two 30,000 rpm VH30 spindles on the data sheet: 74 kW or 125 kW at S1
- T-slots are 18H12 as standard with 18H8 as an option
Limitations
- Table load is max. 5,000 kg/m², a third of the max. 15,000 kg/m² of the FZP42
- Spindle torque peaks at 92 Nm (S6) on the 74 kW spindle, so heavy roughing in steel or titanium belongs on a machine with a stronger head
- The 125 kW spindle delivers constant power only between 20,000 and 30,000 rpm
- The smallest configuration still needs 5,600 mm by 7,100 mm of floor and 5,450 mm of height without peripherals

Frequently Asked Questions
01
X from 3,000 to 40,000 mm (118 to 1,575 in), Y from 2,500 to 6,000 mm (98 to 236 in) and Z from 1,250 to 3,000 mm (49 to 118 in). The table matches the X and Y ranges. Required space without peripherals runs from 5,600 to 44,600 mm in length, 7,100 to 10,700 mm in width and 5,450 to 8,450 mm in height.
02
Standard: ≤8μm / ≤4μm linear (A/R, ISO 230-2), 8 and 5 arc seconds on the rotary axes, ≤50μm / ≤30μm volumetric, and thermostability of ≤ 20μm to ISO 230-3. Increased accuracy: ≤5μm / ≤3μm linear, ≤30μm / ≤20μm volumetric and ≤ 10μm thermostability. Zimmermann attributes this to the thermosymmetrical box-in-box design, which it says minimizes thermal influences on the machine's geometry.
03
Two for the VH30 head, both at 30,000 rpm with HSK-A63/80. The 74 kW spindle gives 74 kW at S1 and 78 kW at S6, with 73 Nm and 92 Nm. The 125 kW spindle gives 125 kW at S1 and 156 kW at S6, with 60 Nm and 75 Nm. The data sheet notes that other spindle options are available on request, and the page also lists the VH10 and VH20 heads.
04
The machine table is anchored to the machine base and can sit above floor level or on floor level. It is rated at max. 5,000 kg/m², with longitudinal T-slots of 18H12 (18H8 optional) at a 250 mm pitch. Because the table is fixed and the gantry moves, the part stays put however long or heavy it is.

Heidenhain TNC 7 or Siemens SINUMERIK ONE. Optional equipment on the data sheet includes a tool probe, tool measuring system, work area cover, tool changer, chip conveyor, mist/dust extraction, lubricant cooling, minimum quantity lubrication, a vacuum system and a dust extraction bell.
