How much does the Zimmermann FZH27 cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Zimmermann FZH27 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Trimming, drilling and milling CFRP and aluminum aerospace parts is the job Zimmermann gives the FZH27. It is a compact horizontal machining center with an X travel of 2,500, 4,500 or 6,500 mm (98.4, 177.2 or 255.9 in), a Y of 1,600 mm (63.0 in) or 2,100 mm (82.7 in) and a Z of 700 mm (27.6 in), carrying a slim milling head with a low interference contour.
The data sheet shows the S2 head. Its spindle is the light 15 kW unit, 18 kW at S6, with an HSK-F63 holder, 12 Nm of torque at S1 and a top speed printed as 24,000 U/min, the German notation for revolutions per minute. That is right for routing composite parts and for small-tool work in aluminum, and wrong for anything that needs torque. The A axis swivels ±96° or ±120°. The C axis is limited to ±186°, less than the ±270° the data sheet of the FZU22 gantry gives for its heads.
Dynamics are moderate. X runs at 60 m/min, Y and Z at 40 m/min, and acceleration on all three axes is 2 m/s², the lowest figure among the horizontal machines: the FZH32 is listed at 3 m/s² and the FZH at up to 6 m/s².
The data sheet gives one set of dimensions, 5,100 mm long, 5,300 mm wide and 3,400 mm high without peripherals, a height that already includes 425 mm of depth into the foundation, and notes that other length and height variants are possible. Automation, fixture holders, a tool changer, a vacuum system and longer X working ranges are on the optional equipment list. The page offers Heidenhain TNC7 or Siemens SINUMERIK ONE as the control and names the C3 as the second suitable head.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Slim milling head with a low interference contour for complex geometries and areas that are difficult to access
- Three X travels: 2,500, 4,500 or 6,500 mm
- 24,000 U/min spindle with HSK-F63 for trimming and drilling CFRP
- Compact installation: 5,100 mm by 5,300 mm on the data sheet
- Automation, fixture holders and a vacuum system available as options
Limitations
- Spindle torque is 12 Nm at S1 and 14 Nm at S6
- Linear acceleration is 2 m/s², against 3 m/s² on the FZH32
- Z travel is 700 mm (27.6 in)
- C-axis range of the S2 head is ±186°
- The 3,400 mm height includes 425 mm sunk into the foundation, so a pit is part of the installation

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Zimmermann says the machine is specially designed for applications in the aerospace industry and is ideal for processing CFRP or aluminum, with milling, trimming and drilling as the typical operations. It adds that the compact design and small footprint allow use in confined production environments, and that the machine also serves the automotive industry.
02
X is 2,500, 4,500 or 6,500 mm (98.4, 177.2 or 255.9 in), Y is 1,600 mm (63.0 in) or 2,100 mm (82.7 in) and Z is 700 mm (27.6 in). Longer working ranges in X are listed as optional equipment, and the data sheet says other length and height variants are possible.
03
The S2 head with a 15 kW spindle: 15 kW at S1 and 18 kW at S6, 12 Nm at S1 and 14 Nm at S6, and a maximum speed given as 24,000 U/min with constant power from 12,000 U/min. The tool holder is HSK-F63 with a spring clamp and pneumatic release. Rotary torque in control is 568 Nm on A and 690 Nm on C. The page also names the C3 head, and other heads and spindles are on request.
04
The data sheet gives a required space of 5,100 mm in length, 5,300 mm in width and 3,400 mm in height without peripherals. The height figure already takes 425 mm of depth into the foundation into account.
05
The FZH27 is the composite-oriented machine, the FZH32 the aluminum one. The FZH27 has more Y and Z, up to 2,100 mm and 700 mm, where the FZH32 is listed with 950 mm or 1,250 mm of Y and 600 mm of Z. The FZH32 data sheet shows a stronger spindle, 25 kW at S1 with 60 Nm, and its axes accelerate at 3 m/s² rather than 2 m/s².
