Overview

On the YCM TCV2000A the column travels and the table stands still. That layout gives this vertical machining center 2,000 mm (78.74 in) of X travel over a fixed table of 2,500 x 520 mm (98.43 x 20.47 in), with 520 mm (20.47 in) of Y and 540 mm (21.26 in) of Z.

A fixed table has two consequences. The 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) load never moves, so axis dynamics do not depend on the weight of the part, and the work area can be split. YCM lists the X travel when working in two areas as 2 x 650 mm: a dividing wall goes into the enclosure, and the operator loads one side while the spindle cuts on the other. Without the wall, the whole length is available for a single long part such as a profile or rail.

The travelling column runs on roller type guideways with six slider blocks on X, and reaches 40 m/min rapid on each axis. YCM cools the X axis with a circulated cooling system to hold accuracy along the long stroke, and leaves the counterweight off Z to cut vibration. The magazine travels with the column on its own guideway blocks, so a tool change does not require a return to one end of the bed.

The spindle is a BBT40 unit rated 22 kW (30 HP) at 12,000 rpm, with 15,000 rpm optional, and the magazine holds 30 tools. The narrow table means workpieces are long and slim by nature. Machine weight is 13,000 kg (28,660 lb).

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Travelling column over a fixed 2,500 x 520 mm (98.43 x 20.47 in) table
  • Two-area working with 2 x 650 mm of X travel behind a dividing wall
  • 40 m/min rapid feedrate with roller type guideways on all 3 axes
  • Circulated cooling system on the X axis
  • Tool magazine supported on extra guideway blocks so it moves with the column

Limitations

  • Y travel is 520 mm (20.47 in), so only narrow parts fit
  • A single magazine size of 30 tools is listed
  • Cutting feed is limited to 10,000 mm/min (394 ipm)
  • In two-area mode each side has 650 mm of X

Best For

Long, slim parts such as aluminium profiles, rails and frames up to 2,000 mm (78.74 in) Pendulum machining of smaller parts in two work areas Loads up to 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) that should not ride on a moving table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What does the travelling column design of the TCV2000A offer?

The table is fixed and the column carries the spindle along X. YCM describes the large working area as suited to large and long workpieces, and says that with a dividing wall installed both long and complex parts can be made on the same machine.

02 How does two-area working function?

The table lists X-axis travel working in 2 areas as 2 x 650 mm. A dividing wall separates the working area, so one side can be loaded while the other is machined. Used as one area, X travel is 2,000 mm (78.74 in).

03 What spindle and magazine does it have?

A BBT40 spindle with 22 kW (30 HP) at 12,000 rpm, or 15,000 rpm as an option, and a 30-tool magazine. Tools can be ø76 x 300 mm with adjacent tools, ø110 x 300 mm without, and weigh 6 kg (13.2 lb).

04 How does it compare with the TCV3000A?

The TCV3000A is the larger machine, with 3,000 mm (118.11 in) of X, 800 mm (31.50 in) of Y and Z, a 3,000 kg (6,614 lb) table and a weight of 24,000 kg (52,910 lb). The TCV2000A weighs 13,000 kg (28,660 lb) and has 520 mm (20.47 in) of Y.
