Overview
The Johnford DMC-915 is the largest High-speed DMC model, with 1,500 mm (59.1 in) of X travel and a 1,600 x 850 mm (63 x 33.5 in) table. At 14,000 kg (30,800 lb) it is also much the heaviest of the three, and it is the only one with a longer listed footprint: 4,755 x 2,920 x 3,130 mm (187.2 x 115 x 123.2 in).
Its job is high-speed finishing of long mold and die parts. Bumper and trim molds, long extrusion dies, aerospace plates and similar work need a 15,000 rpm spindle over more than a metre of travel, and they need Y to match. Here Y is 900 mm (35.4 in). Z is 500 mm (19.7 in), the same shallow figure as the rest of the series, so the DMC-915 is for long, wide and fairly flat work.
One number does not grow with the machine. Table load capacity stays at 3,000 kg (6,600 lb), as on the DMC-909 and DMC-912. A steel block that fills this table would exceed it, so check the weight of large solid workpieces rather than assuming the bigger machine carries more.
The standard spindle is the direct drive BBT-40 unit, 60~15,000 rpm with 7.5 / 11 kW (10.1 / 14.8 hp). For a machine of this size and weight the optional spindles deserve a look: the built-in HSK A63 spindle with 17 / 21 kW (22.8 / 28.2 hp) at up to 20,000 rpm, or the motor spindle listed at max. 15,000 rpm with 41 kW max. power. Controls offered beyond the standard Fanuc 0i-MF PLUS are Fanuc 31i-MB PLUS with a 15 in LCD, Siemens SINUMERIK 828D and Siemens SINUMERIK ONE.
