How much does the YCM TC-16LB cost?
Price estimate
We do not have a price for the YCM TC-16LB that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
Give the TC-16L bed a bigger spindle and you have the YCM TC-16LB. This two-axis turning center mounts an 8" chuck on an A2-6 nose, with a ø77 mm (ø3.03 in) spindle bore and a ø66 mm (ø2.6 in) hole through the draw bar. Top speed is 4,500 rpm.
Bar capacity is the practical gain. Stock up to the 66 mm draw bar hole can be fed through the headstock, where the TC-16LA is limited to ø52 mm (ø2.05 in). For a shop whose bar work runs in the larger sizes, that decides between the two, because nothing else in the envelope changes: both turn ø260 mm (ø10.24 in) over 600 mm (23.62 in), both have a ø490 mm (ø19.29 in) swing over the turret, and both weigh 3,700 kg (8,157 lb).
The turret on the B model has 10 stations, two fewer than on the A, presumably to give larger holders more room; YCM does not comment on it. It is servo driven with hydraulic clamping and a large curvic-type clutch for repeatable indexing.
Axes run on linear guideways at 24 m/min in X and 30 m/min in Z, with pre-tensioned ball screws to limit thermal drift. The headstock is symmetrical, running NN series roller bearings together with angular contact ball bearings. Motor rating is 11/15 kW (15/20 HP), the same as on the faster 6" spindle, so the larger chuck gets no extra power. The tailstock quill is MT-4 with 500 mm (19.69 in) of stroke.

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- ø66 mm (ø2.6 in) draw bar hole on a compact lathe
- 8" chuck with a ø77 mm (ø3.03 in) spindle bore
- Linear guideways with 24 and 30 m/min rapids
- 600 mm (23.62 in) turning length with a 500 mm (19.69 in) quill stroke
- Light machine at 3,700 kg (8,157 lb)
Limitations
- 10 turret stations against 12 on the TC-16LA
- Motor rating of 11/15 kW (15/20 HP) is no higher than on the 6" model
- Turning diameter stays at ø260 mm (ø10.24 in) despite the larger chuck
- No live tools in the table

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The hole through the draw bar is ø66 mm (ø2.6 in) and the hole through the spindle is ø77 mm (ø3.03 in). The TC-16LA, with the 6" chuck, has a ø52 mm (ø2.05 in) draw bar hole.
02
Up to 4,500 rpm, with a main spindle motor of 11/15 kW (15/20 HP). The spindle nose is A2-6 and the chuck is 8". The headstock is a symmetric design to dissipate heat evenly.
03
Maximum turning diameter is ø260 mm (ø10.24 in) and maximum turning length is 600 mm (23.62 in). X travel is printed as 150 mm (130+20) and Z travel is 600 mm (23.62 in).
04
10 stations. The turret is a servo turret with hydraulic clamping, and YCM describes an extra large, high precision clutch that gives high positioning and repeatability accuracy.
