Price estimate
We do not have a price for the YCM TC-16LA that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The YCM TC-16LA is a light, fast two-axis turning center on linear guideways. It has a 6" chuck on an A2-5 nose, a 5,000 rpm spindle, and turns parts up to ø260 mm (ø10.24 in) in diameter and 600 mm (23.62 in) in length.
Where YCM's GT lathes slide on box ways, the TC-16L pair uses linear guideways on X and Z. YCM gives low resistance and low friction as the reason, with benefits for positioning accuracy and machine life. Rapids are 24 m/min in X and 30 m/min in Z, and at 3,700 kg (8,157 lb) the machine is the lightest lathe in the range. It is aimed at production turning of small parts, not at heavy roughing.
Six hundred millimetres of turning length is long for a 6" machine, and the tailstock quill travels 500 mm (19.69 in) to match. Slim shafts and long bar parts fit. The draw bar hole is ø52 mm (ø2.05 in), and the 12-station servo turret with hydraulic clamping gives room for a full set of turning, boring and threading tools.
The bed is a one-piece 45° slant casting in MEEHANITE iron, and the coolant tank is separate from the base to keep heat away from it. The filter and sub tank pull out for cleaning. YCM also describes an automatic production system for loading and unloading that can be added for unattended running. The spindle motor is rated 11/15 kW (15/20 HP).

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Spindle size and turret. The TC-16LA has a 6" chuck, an A2-5 nose, 5,000 rpm, a ø52 mm (ø2.05 in) draw bar hole and 12 stations. The TC-16LB has an 8" chuck, an A2-6 nose, 4,500 rpm, a ø66 mm (ø2.6 in) draw bar hole and 10 stations.
02
Maximum turning diameter is ø260 mm (ø10.24 in), maximum turning length is 600 mm (23.62 in) and swing over the turret is ø490 mm (ø19.29 in). The spindle bore is ø62 mm (ø2.44 in).
03
Linear guideways on the X and Z axes. YCM says their low resistance and low friction prolong machine life and help positioning accuracy. The bed is a one-piece 45° slant design that leaves space for chip removal.
04
Yes. The quill has an MT-4 taper and a stroke of 500 mm (19.69 in). YCM mentions diverse choices of tailstock and turning length for the series, so confirm the tailstock type when ordering.
