YCM TC-36 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the YCM TC-36 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from YCM or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

A long-bed, geared-head lathe for big shafts, the YCM TC-36 turns up to ø590 mm (ø23.23 in) in diameter and 1,189 mm (46.81 in) in length. Z travel is 1,250 mm (49.21 in) and the main motor is rated 22/26 kW (30/35 HP).

The speed row describes a two-range gearbox for a chuck given as 12": 7~180~719 in low and 30~751~2,500 rpm in high. With a top speed of 2,500 rpm and a bottom of 7, the machine is geared for surface speed on large diameters, not for small bar. Its spindle has a ø105 mm (ø4.13 in) bore, ø93 mm (ø3.66 in) through the draw bar, on an A2-8 nose.

Compared with the TC-26 the envelope is close to double in length and the motor has considerably more power, while the swing over the turret is identical at ø640 mm (ø25.2 in). The weight rises to 7,000 kg (15,432 lb). The hydraulic turret has 12 stations as standard, with 10 or 8 as options for larger tooling, and clamps on a large curvic coupling.

Shaft work depends on the tailstock, which here has 1,080 mm (42.52 in) of quill stroke and an MT-4 taper. Ball screws are coupled directly to their motors. YCM points to a stand-alone oil tank that keeps hydraulic heat out of the casting, and a guard window that lets the operator watch the cut. Rapid traverse is 15 m/min in X and 20 m/min in Z.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 1,189 mm (46.81 in) turning length with ø590 mm (ø23.23 in) turning diameter
  • 22/26 kW (30/35 HP) motor through a two-range gear headstock
  • ø105 mm (ø4.13 in) spindle bore, ø93 mm (ø3.66 in) through the draw bar
  • Tailstock quill stroke of 1,080 mm (42.52 in)
  • Stand-alone oil tank to keep heat away from the machine

Limitations

  • Top spindle speed is 2,500 rpm
  • Rapids of 15 m/min in X and 20 m/min in Z are slow over a 1,250 mm (49.21 in) Z stroke
  • Tailstock quill taper is MT-4 on a machine of this size
  • No live tooling in the table

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the capacity of the TC-36?

Maximum turning diameter is ø590 mm (ø23.23 in) and maximum turning length is 1,189 mm (46.81 in). Z travel is 1,250 mm (49.21 in), and swing over the turret is ø640 mm (ø25.2 in).

02 What are the spindle speed ranges?

The table lists, for a 12" chuck, a low range of 7~180~719 and a high range of 30~751~2,500 rpm. The main spindle motor is 22/26 kW (30/35 HP) and the spindle nose is A2-8.

03 How does the TC-36 compare with the TC-26?

The TC-26 turns ø470 mm (ø18.5 in), has 700 mm (27.56 in) of Z travel, an 11/15 kW (15/20 HP) motor and weighs 4,400 kg (9,700 lb). The TC-36 turns ø590 mm (ø23.23 in), has 1,250 mm (49.21 in) of Z travel and weighs 7,000 kg (15,432 lb).

04 How many turret stations are there?

12 stations as standard, with 10 or 8 stations as options. The turret is a hydraulic type, and YCM describes a large diameter curvic coupling that gives high precision and rigidity in cutting.
