Overview

The YCM DCV2012A is the high-speed model of the DCV double-column range, with a 20,000 rpm built-in motorized spindle on a BBT40 taper. Travels are 2,000 mm in X, 1,200 mm in Y and 600 mm in Z, and the table is 2,000 x 1,100 mm with a 4,000 kg load rating.

Every other three-axis DCV machine is a BBT50 mill for heavy cutting. This one is built for the opposite job: finishing large surfaces with small tools. YCM makes the spindle itself and lists a patented circulated cooling system, a patented vibration-suppressing design, a floating rear bearing and micro oil-air lubrication. Power is 22 kW.

The axes follow the same thinking. Where the heavier models slide the head on a boxway, the Z axis here uses a roller type guideway with 6 slider blocks, for smooth motion during 3D contouring. All three axes are ball screws driven directly by servo motors with absolute encoders. Rapids are 24 m/min in X and Y and 15 m/min in Z.

A bridge machine keeps the spindle the same short distance from its support wherever it is over the table, and a C-frame of this travel cannot offer that. The DCV2012A therefore suits large molds, aerospace plates and aluminium tooling that are too big for the FP and NSV machines. The magazine holds 24 tools, or 30, with a 6 kg limit. There are 1,340 mm between the columns, and the machine weighs 16,000 kg.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • 20,000 rpm YCM built-in motorized spindle with patented circulated cooling
  • Roller type guideway with 6 slider blocks on Z for 3D contouring
  • 2,000 x 1,200 mm of X and Y travel under a bridge
  • Direct drive ball screws with absolute encoders on 3 axes
  • X and Y rapids of 24 m/min

Limitations

  • BBT40 taper and 22 kW limit heavy roughing
  • Z travel is 600 mm, the shortest in the DCV range
  • Table load of 4,000 kg is low for a double-column machine
  • Tools are limited to 6 kg and the magazine to 30 tools

Best For

Finishing of large molds and dies with small tools Aluminium plates and aerospace panels up to 2,000 x 1,200 mm 3D contouring where a short, constant spindle overhang matters

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How is the DCV2012A different from the DCV2012B?

The DCV2012A has a BBT40 built-in spindle at 20,000 rpm with 22 kW and weighs 16,000 kg. The DCV2012B has a BBT50 spindle at 10,000 rpm with 45 kW, takes 20 kg tools and weighs 19,000 kg. Both share the 2,000 x 1,100 mm table and 4,000 kg load.

02 What are the travels and table size?

Travels are 2,000 mm in X, 1,200 mm in Y and 600 mm in Z. The table is 2,000 x 1,100 mm with T-slots listed as 7 x 22 x 150 mm, the load rating is 4,000 kg and the distance between columns is 1,340 mm.

03 What does YCM say about the spindle?

It is a YCM-made built-in motorized spindle with a BBT40 taper and simultaneous taper and flange contact. The feature list names a patented circulated cooling system, a patented vibration-suppressing design, a floating rear bearing and micro oil-air bearing lubrication.

04 How many tools does it carry?

24 tools as standard and 30 as an option, each up to 6 kg (13.2 lb). The table gives a tool size of ø80 x 250 mm for the 24-tool magazine and ø76 x 250 mm for the 30-tool magazine, or ø125 x 250 mm without adjacent tools.
