Vollmer CMF 300 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Vollmer CMF 300 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Vollmer or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Vollmer CMF 300 is a side grinder for large TCT circular saw blades, covering outer diameters from 200 to 1,440 mm (7.9 to 56.7 in). Like the smaller CMF 200 it grinds the flanks with a cup wheel and has 9 CNC axes. It is the flank partner to the CM 300 top and face grinder, which shares the 1,440 mm (56.7 in) limit.

On a blade this size the flanks are a long way from the bore, and any wobble in the body shows up at the tooth. That is why the probe matters more here than on a small machine. It measures the body width and the tooth side projection on the actual blade, and the grinding is referenced to what it finds. Vollmer also lists machining of blades with tooth flank differences, where the two sides are deliberately unequal.

Three grinding programs are shown: forward grinding with lift-off and rapid return, oscillation grinding with a selectable in-feed and stroke count, and the flank-difference program. Oscillation is the one to use when a newly brazed tip stands well proud. The tangential clearance angle is adjustable from 0° to 10° and the radial from 0° to 5°.

What the larger frame costs is modest. Weight rises to approx. 4,500 kg (9,921 lb) and connected load to approx. 8.7 kVA; the wheel, 100 to 125 mm (3.9 to 4.9 in), and the 1,600 to 5,500 rpm speed range do not change. Air at 6 to 10 bar (87 to 145 psi) is required. As with the other machines of this family, the brochure names Windows XP as the basis of the control, so the current specification should be confirmed.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Side grinding for blades up to 1,440 mm (56.7 in) in outer diameter
  • Standard measuring probe records blade diameter, hook angle, body width, tooth side projection and side clearance angle
  • Blades with tooth flank differences can be machined
  • Approx. 4,500 kg (9,921 lb), only a little more than the CMF 200 at approx. 4,200 kg (9,259 lb)
  • Works with oil or emulsion as cooling agent

Limitations

  • Radial clearance angle is limited to 0° to 5° and tangential to 0° to 10°
  • Bore diameter range ends at 200 mm (7.9 in)
  • No top or face grinding; a CM 300 is needed for the rest of the tooth
  • Cutting edge length of up to 25 mm (0.98 in) caps the tip height that can be ground

Best For

Flank grinding of large TCT cold saw blades up to 1,440 mm (56.7 in) Blade plants running a CM 300 that need the matching side grinder Blades designed with unequal tooth flanks Retipped large blades that need oscillation grinding

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the capacity of the Vollmer CMF 300?

Circular saw blades from 200 to 1,440 mm (7.9 to 56.7 in) in outer diameter, with a bore of 16 to 200 mm (0.63 to 7.9 in), a thickness of up to 15 mm (0.59 in) and a tooth pitch of 6 to 180 mm (0.24 to 7.1 in). The cutting edge length is up to 25 mm (0.98 in).

02 CMF 300 or CMF 200: which one?

It comes down to the largest blade. The CMF 200 ends at 840 mm (33.1 in) and the CMF 300 at 1,440 mm (56.7 in). Both start at 200 mm (7.9 in) and share the angle ranges, wheel sizes and speeds. The CMF 300 weighs approx. 4,500 kg (9,921 lb) and has a total connected load of approx. 8.7 kVA.

03 Which grinding programs does the CMF 300 include?

Vollmer shows forward grinding with lift-off and rapid return, oscillation grinding with a selectable amount of in-feed and number of grinding strokes, and machining of circular saw blades with tooth flank differences. It states that various grinding programs are included in the standard machine.

04 What services does the CMF 300 require?

A total connected load of approx. 8.7 kVA and a compressed air connection of 6 to 10 bar (87 to 145 psi). The coolant tank holds approx. 220 l. Allow for a machine weight of approx. 4,500 kg (9,921 lb) when planning the floor and the lift.
