Vollmer CPF 650 — price

Price estimate: uncertain

We have no price for the Vollmer CPF 650 that we can cite and no estimate we can stand behind, so this page shows no number rather than a guess. A quote from Vollmer or an authorised dealer is the reliable figure.

What moves the final price

  • Spindle, control and probing options
  • Tool changer capacity and tooling package
  • Automation — pallet changers, bar feeders, robot cells
  • Freight, rigging, installation and training
  • Region, dealer and time of year

Overview

The Vollmer CPF 650 grinds the side angles of carbide-tipped circular saw blades from 80 to 650 mm (3.1 to 25.6 in). It is the companion to the CP 650, built into the same compact enclosure at approx. 900 kg (1,984 lb), and it brings five-axis CNC side grinding to shops whose blades are small.

The axes are V1, Z1, X1, X2 and Y1. With them the machine sets every commonly used side angle on its own, hook angle included, and detects the tooth pitch. Tangential clearance is 0° to 8°. Radial clearance is 0° to 6°, with the note that angles up to -20° can be machined, possibly on one side only. Is that note relevant to a small shop? It is, because scoring saws for panel lines have conical teeth, and Vollmer lists fully automated single-sided machining for exactly that case.

Blades up to 5 mm (0.20 in) thick with tooth pitches to 100 mm (3.9 in) fit. The grinding path along the side is up to 20 mm (0.79 in). Wheels of 80 to 100 mm (3.1 to 3.9 in) are driven by a 0.7 kW (0.9 hp) motor, and the table gives approx. 18–27 m/s as an optional, variable wheel speed.

Side grinding draws more than face grinding. The CPF 650 has a connected load of approx. 3.7 kVA where the CP 650 is listed at approx. 2.2 kVA. Otherwise the two match: approx. 125 l of coolant, full enclosure, three separated compartments, and the handwheel-and-display control that stores up to 4000 programs.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Five CNC-controlled axes (V1, Z1, X1, X2, Y1) set all commonly used side angles automatically
  • Single-sided machining of conical prescoring saws can run fully automated
  • Multi-surface program for side offsets is standard
  • Saw change without adjusting the mounting carriage
  • Same approx. 900 kg (1,984 lb) footprint class as the CP 650

Limitations

  • Limited to blades of 650 mm (25.6 in) and 5 mm (0.20 in) thickness
  • Tooth pitch ends at 100 mm (3.9 in)
  • Variable wheel speed over approx. 18–27 m/s is optional
  • Only one grinding drive, 0.7 kW (0.9 hp), is listed

Frequently Asked Questions

01 What is the Vollmer CPF 650 used for?

Sharpening the side angles, the tooth flanks, of carbide-tipped circular saw blades with a diameter of 80 to 650 mm (3.1 to 25.6 in). Vollmer names saws for processing wood, plastics and aluminium. Faces and tops are ground on the CP 650.

02 What clearance angles can it grind?

Tangential clearance from 0° to 8° and radial clearance from 0° to 6°. Radial angles up to -20° can be machined where necessary, possibly single-sided. Convex tooth sides are possible, and values can be entered either as angles or as absolute values.

03 Does the operator have to set angles by hand?

No. Vollmer states that there is no need for manual adjustment of the radial and tangential clearance angles, and that all commonly used angles, including the hook angle, are set automatically. The feed pawl sensor system detects the tooth pitch, so that is not entered either.

04 What services does the CPF 650 need?

A connected load of approx. 3.7 kVA without auxiliary equipment and space for a coolant tank of approx. 125 l. The machine weighs approx. 900 kg (1,984 lb). The grinding wheels are 80 to 100 mm (3.1 to 3.9 in) in outside diameter with a 32 mm (1.3 in) bore.
