Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Vollmer CMF 200 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Vollmer CMF 200 grinds the tooth sides of TCT circular saw blades for metal cutting. It works with a cup grinding wheel, so the flanks come out flat instead of slightly hollow, and it measures the tooth before it grinds. Blade diameters run from 200 to 840 mm (7.9 to 33.1 in).
Flat flanks are the reason to choose a cup wheel. A peripheral wheel leaves a curve that follows its own radius; a cup wheel presents a plane. On a cold saw blade, where side clearance is small and the kerf is tight, that plane is what keeps the cut straight. Tangential clearance is set by CNC from 0° to 10°. Radial clearance, 0° to 5°, is generated by path processing instead of by tilting the wheel.
Set-up is automated to a degree unusual for side grinding. The standard probe records blade diameter, hook angle, body width, tooth side projection and side clearance angle, and Vollmer combines it with a sound measuring device to find the grinding point on the cup wheel automatically. Grinding path is then recognised and controlled by the machine. Hook angles from -35° to +35° are accepted.
The wheels are small, 100 to 125 mm (3.9 to 4.9 in) on a 32 mm (1.3 in) bore, turning at 1,600 to 5,500 rpm. Cutting edge length is up to 25 mm (0.98 in) and blade thickness up to 15 mm (0.59 in). Connected load, approx. 8.3 kVA, is higher than on the CM 200 top and face grinder, listed at approx. 5.6 kVA. The CMF 200 weighs approx. 4,200 kg (9,259 lb).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Cup grinding wheel method gives flat lateral clearance surfaces
- Automatic determination of the grinding point at the cup wheel, using the measuring unit and a sound measuring device
- Hook angle range of -35° to +35° accepts strongly negative and positive teeth
- Tangential angles from 0° to 10° are set under CNC control
- Oscillation grinding with selectable in-feed and number of strokes is among the programs
Limitations
- Side grinding only; tops and faces need the CM 200
- Radial clearance angle ends at 5°
- Cutting edge length is limited to 25 mm (0.98 in)
- Blades under 200 mm (7.9 in) or over 840 mm (33.1 in) do not fit; the CMF 300 extends the top end
- Operation control is described as based on Windows XP

Frequently Asked Questions
01
The tooth sides of TCT circular saw blades. Vollmer describes it as a machine for side grinding with a cup grinding wheel, which produces flat tooth sides. Blades from 200 to 840 mm (7.9 to 33.1 in) in outer diameter and up to 15 mm (0.59 in) thick are within range.
02
A tangential clearance angle from 0° to 10° and a radial clearance angle from 0° to 5°. Tangential angles are set under CNC control and radial angles are machined by path processing. The hook angle of the blade may lie between -35° and +35°.
03
Largely by itself. The standard measuring probe takes blade diameter, hook angle, body width, tooth side projection and side clearance angle. The grinding point at the cup wheel is determined automatically and the grinding path is recognised and controlled, so Vollmer lists fully automatic setting and measuring of the tooth geometry.

Grinding wheels of 100 to 125 mm (3.9 to 4.9 in) outer diameter on a 32 mm (1.3 in) bore, running from 1,600 to 5,500 rpm. Either oil or emulsion can be used as cooling agent, from a tank of approx. 220 l.
