Price estimate
We do not have a price for the Vollmer CM 300 that we can stand behind, so we show no number. Configuration, options and installation move the final price a long way: a quote is the reliable figure.
Overview
The Vollmer CM 300 is the large-diameter version of Vollmer's top and face grinder for TCT metal-cutting circular saw blades. It takes blades from 200 to 1,440 mm (7.9 to 56.7 in) in outer diameter. Everything about the grinding end matches the CM 200, which stops at 840 mm (33.1 in); what changes is the reach of the blade carriage, the weight and the connected load.
Big cold saw blades are where this machine earns its place. A blade well over a metre across for billet or tube cutting is expensive to scrap, and the tooth load on such a blade punishes any error in top or face geometry. Vollmer's answer is a grinding aggregate that cannot be swivelled, two main spindles and a measuring probe that records the tooth before grinding starts.
The figures at the tooth are the same at any diameter. Blade thickness up to 15 mm (0.59 in). Pitch from 6 to 180 mm (0.24 to 7.1 in). Hook angle from -35° to +20° and clearance angle from 0° to 25°. Up to 40 mm (1.6 in) of clearance surface and 25 mm (0.98 in) of chip surface can be ground. Both spindles run from 1,600 to 5,500 rpm. The first carries a 125 mm (4.9 in) wheel, the second wheels from 80 to 200 mm (3.1 to 7.9 in).
Bore diameter is where to look twice. The range is 16 to 200 mm (0.63 to 7.9 in), and a very large blade may have a bigger bore or a flange pattern, so confirm clamping for your blades. The machine weighs approx. 4,920 kg (10,847 lb), draws approx. 6.4 kVA and needs air at 6 to 10 bar (87 to 145 psi).

Strengths & Limitations
Strengths
- Blade diameters up to 1,440 mm (56.7 in), against 840 mm (33.1 in) on the CM 200
- Same two-spindle, fixed-aggregate grinding end as the smaller machine, with 9 CNC axes
- Weight stays close to the CM 200 despite the larger capacity: approx. 4,920 kg (10,847 lb) against approx. 4,700 kg (10,362 lb)
- Negative tooth faces can be ground and bevelled up to 30°
- Grinds with either oil or emulsion as cooling agent
Limitations
- Bore diameter tops out at 200 mm (7.9 in), which may not suit every large blade
- Blade thickness is still limited to 15 mm (0.59 in) at the larger diameters
- Tooth sides are not ground here; the CMF 300 covers them for the same 1,440 mm (56.7 in) range
- The brochure describes an operation control based on Windows XP

Frequently Asked Questions
01
Capacity. The CM 300 takes blades from 200 to 1,440 mm (7.9 to 56.7 in), the CM 200 from 200 to 840 mm (7.9 to 33.1 in). The CM 300 weighs approx. 4,920 kg (10,847 lb) and draws approx. 6.4 kVA. Angles, grinding lengths, wheels and spindle speeds are the same in both tables.

1,440 mm (56.7 in) in outer diameter, with a blade thickness of up to 15 mm (0.59 in) and a bore between 16 and 200 mm (0.63 to 7.9 in). The smallest blade is 200 mm (7.9 in).
03
Spindle 1 carries a wheel of 125 mm (4.9 in) outer diameter and spindle 2 wheels from 80 to 200 mm (3.1 to 7.9 in), each on a 32 mm (1.3 in) bore. Both spindles run from 1,600 to 5,500 rpm. The chip breaker wheel has a 50 mm (2.0 in) bore.

Yes. Vollmer states that the measuring probe is standard within the machine and takes the relevant parameters such as cutting width, width of the saw blade body and hook angle. The highlights list measuring of the complete tooth geometry.
