Overview
Eight metres is as long as the FA series goes. The Vision Wide FA-8033 has 8,100 mm (318.9 in) of X travel, 3,300 mm (129.9 in) of Y, and an 8,000×2,450 mm (315.0×96.5 in) table that carries 24,000 kg (52,910 lb).
Five-axis machines of this length are uncommon, and the parts that call for one are specific: long aerostructure tooling, large blade molds, vehicle body dies, rail and marine components with compound surfaces. What they share is a surface that cannot be finished from a fixed tool angle and a length that will not fit a shorter bed.
The X axis is the slow one. Its rapid is 8 m/min, against 15 m/min for Y and Z, and cutting feed is 1-10,000 mm/min. A program that sweeps along the length of the part should be planned with that in mind; sweeping across it uses the faster axis.
