Overview

The Trumpf TruLaser Center 7030 is a fully automated laser cutting system that integrates cutting, part removal, sorting, and stacking into a single machine. This is not a conventional flatbed laser with automation bolted on -- the TruLaser Center was designed from the ground up as an autonomous cutting cell that can run lights-out with minimal operator intervention.

The working range covers 3,000 x 1,500 mm (118 x 59 in) with a 120 mm Z-axis stroke. Laser power options include the TruFiber 6001 at 6 kW and the TruFiber 12001 at 12 kW. Both configurations cut mild steel and stainless steel up to 12.7 mm (0.5 in), with aluminum, brass, and copper capacity at 6 mm.

Two automated unloading systems handle finished parts. SmartGate sorts small parts from 30 x 30 mm up to 160 x 160 mm through openings in the slat conveyor. SortMaster Speed handles larger parts from 90 x 60 mm up to 2,000 x 1,500 mm, picking them from the skeleton and stacking them on pallets.

The machine weighs 38,860 kg (85,670 lb) with an installation footprint of 10,135 x 10,720 mm (cart extended) or 10,135 x 6,420 mm (cart retracted), with a height of 3,050 mm.

Programming runs through TruTops Boost with automated nesting, cutting sequence optimization, and sorting path generation. The machine autonomously handles sheet loading, cutting, part removal, skeleton disposal, and part stacking.

Strengths & Limitations

Strengths

  • Fully integrated cutting, part removal, sorting, and stacking -- true lights-out capable
  • SmartGate and SortMaster Speed handle parts from 30 x 30 mm to 2,000 x 1,500 mm without manual intervention
  • Autonomous operation dramatically reduces labor cost per part
  • TruTops Boost automates nesting, cutting sequence, and sorting path generation
  • 12 kW laser option delivers competitive cutting speeds on thin-to-medium gauge material
  • Skeleton removal is fully automated, eliminating tedious manual work

Limitations

  • 38,860 kg weight and 10+ meter footprint require substantial floor preparation and dedicated space
  • 12.7 mm maximum steel thickness limits the machine to thin-to-medium gauge work
  • Acquisition cost significantly exceeds conventional flatbed lasers
  • Complexity of sorting and stacking systems increases maintenance requirements
05

Best For

High-volume fabricators running multi-shift or lights-out production Contract manufacturers processing large quantities of thin-to-medium gauge parts OEM production environments feeding downstream bending, welding, or assembly cells Fabricators addressing labor shortages for manual part sorting High-mix operations where automated sorting eliminates bottlenecks

Frequently Asked Questions

01 How does this differ from a standard TruLaser with automation?

The TruLaser Center 7030 was designed from scratch as a fully autonomous system with integrated cutting, sorting, stacking, and skeleton disposal -- not a standard laser with add-on automation.

02 Can it handle thick plate?

No. Optimized for thin-to-medium gauge up to 12.7 mm. For thick plate, use a TruLaser 3000 or 5000 series.

03 What is SmartGate?

SmartGate sorts small parts (30 x 30 mm to 160 x 160 mm) through openings in the slat conveyor during cutting, dropping them into bins below without pick-and-place.

04 What volume justifies this machine?

The investment is justified when labor savings from automated sorting offset the premium. Shops running two or three shifts with sustained 80%+ utilization see the fastest payback.
