Overview
The TRUMPF TruLaser 3040 fiber is a 4,000 × 2,000 mm (157 × 78.7 in) 2D fiber laser cutting machine listed with five TruFiber lasers, from the TruFiber 4000 to the TruFiber 24001. Maximum positioning speed is 170 m/min and the sheet limit is 2,000 kg (4,409 lb).
Five laser options make the thickness table worth reading row by row, because each step helps a different material. Going from the TruFiber 4000 to the 6001 lifts mild steel from 22 mm (0.87 in) to 25 mm (0.98 in), and stainless and aluminum from 20 mm (0.79 in) to 25 mm (0.98 in). The 9001 does nothing more for mild steel, which stays at 25 mm, but takes stainless to 40 mm (1.57 in) and aluminum to 30 mm (1.18 in). The 12001 adds only mild steel, to 30 mm (1.18 in). The 24001 brings mild steel and aluminum to 40 mm (1.57 in) and is the only laser listed for 16 mm (0.63 in) copper. Brass stops at 12.7 mm (0.50 in) from the 9001 upward.
Read that way, the choice follows the material mix. A stainless shop gets the full 40 mm from the 9001 and gains no thickness beyond it. A mild steel plate shop sees no gain until the 12001. Where a larger laser adds no thickness, what it can still add is cutting speed, and the table gives no cutting speeds to put a number on that.
Two neighbours cut the same sheet format. The TruLaser 1040 is the lighter machine at 12,000 kg (26,455 lb) and positions at 140 m/min; its laser list ends at the TruFiber 12001. The TruLaser 5040 positions at 280 m/min and matches the TruLaser 3040 in weight and footprint, but its laser list begins at the TruFiber 6001.
The TruLaser 3040 weighs 14,300 kg (31,526 lb) and needs 11,200 × 6,373 × 2,200 mm (441 × 251 × 86.6 in). With a 2,000 kg sheet limit, full-size sheets at the thick end of the table need a weight check before they are ordered.
